I was referring to pot maybe having an influence on the Colorado Supreme Courts decision regarding Trump on their ballot.

Interesting. I wonder if you had some biodegradable or plant based lamp oil. If such a thing exists.

This is the oil we have. It came from Walmart. No idea if they still sell it. We rarely have outages here and we have a generator. That sauy, I think we are going to hoard some more...

I'm working on the test. Burning up a tea light candle to use it's tin. Not wanting the red oil in the lamps to taint the test.

    Here we go wildwest

I melted all the wax out of the tin and wiped out the liquid before it cooled. Gloves were involved. Lol. Anyway, I then clipped a fresh wick from another tealight candle, as they are always to long, and stuffed it in the wick holder. I filled the tin approximately 40% full of that 2008 lamp oil. I'm currently timing the burn and it's already past 15mn. As you can see the wick isn't even burning, indicating its strictly the oil. This oil smells of mineral spirits, slightly, and my wife will detect I've been up to something as soon as she walks in later this afternoon. Lol. I have the exhaust fan going on the stove now but the smell os already in the air.

It flickered out at 19 minutes and change. Test over. Medallion lamp oil doesn't go bad and you can still buy it. Getting more...

Thank you so much for that experiment! I didn't mean to put you to work though :emb:

Does the oil normally smell, or is it a stronger smell because it's old?

Yeah it's bad. I used to live in Bethel, and I worked in Mexico. The Androscoggin River runs right through that area.

I think it was because of the open tin getting hot and off gassing. I don't remember the lamps smelling. The oil itself is mild but definitely reminiscent of "orderless" mineral spirits.

I’ve been working each day burning up large brush piles. Some very large. I made a LOT of work for myself making these piles the size that I did. Between using the chainsaw to cut the bigger stuff down to size, and loading them several times a day, I am getting quite a workout. So far, out of I think 12 piles. One is gone and cleaned up. The second and largest of them all, is about 95% gone. IMG_4944.jpeg I will finish that up tomorrow. A third, medium size one, has about 15% left to burn up. Looks like I’ll be busting my butt to try to get them all burned up before vacation is over Jan. 3rd. Rain coming Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully burn a few at a time then. And hopefully, any deep snow holds off until I get them burned up.

Veteran's Memorial Park in Lewiston took a big hit from the flood Many of the memorials are tipped over or moved away. They said it is going to cost $100,000 to fix it.
Our supermarket in Gardiner got flooded out. They lost everything including the coolers. Our main roads follow along the river on both sides so travel was very interrupted in several places. My brother also lost his power and last PM his generator died. He is completely disabled, and can't walk or stand. I told him to have his son-in-law come get my generator until his power comes back on.
