Mostly yes, especially the longer loops. Planning to try some semi chisel ones as I wear out what I have. I really think some of it has to do with the sharpening angle’s I’ve been using. Did up several looks last week with mine new cbn wheel and think I might have figured out the down angle thing. Hoping to have time tomorrow afternoon to try out on of the 24” loops I just did
Semi chisel with shallower angles should help a lot with edge life. That’s what I’ll be running tomorrow when I get into some long dead and down locust. Generally I’m not dealing with sand here, although in spots there are a lot of glacial deposits.
For many years I have been grinding RM chain to RS angles. Go all the way in almost to the tie strap. If I make up a new chain I'll grind it out before it gets used. It's a great hybrid chain with room to clear swarf and a corner that is more durable than the sharp full chisel.
