    I am picking up some wood soon and was wondering what kind of wood it is. I think one of them is red oak but not sure about the other

    Silver maple dries fast, lower btu wood, ideal for cooler weather. Norway maple comparable to ash IME.
    Some decent rounds. Id take them.

    True. In his pics they look nice and straight, but around here both are common yard trees and get gnarly real fast. Honestly wish i could score more of both varieties.

    Norway and red/silver maple mostly. A few rounds look like they might be hickory. Youll know if they are when you try to lift them.

    Get the maple split asap its only downfall is it loves to go punky if left in round form.
