I’m almost embarrassed by this temporary “repair” of mine, but I don’t know. Maybe it could become a new fad? Post-apocalyptic rat rod saws anyone? ;) A couple summers ago my Echo CS-370 fell off my tailgate and then got backed over (I no longer work past sunset as a result) The plastic handle did not survive. It’s sat on my shelf ever since, with me not wanting to pony up the $80 for a new handle assembly, especially since my Stihl MS-170 works the same role as this saw. Still not wanting to dump money into it, but missing using it nonetheless, I decided to see what I could do with whatever junk I had kicking around. I bent a scrap piece of aluminum, drilled a couple mounting holes, then topped the ensemble off with some paracord. I think I’m going to run it, the heck with it   It’s still out of commission for the time being, until my new chain adjuster for it comes in. I did fire it up though and it seems to be running decent. This was the first saw I ever owned, so although it doesn’t owe me a thing, I can’t bring myself to give up completely on it. At some point I’ll buy a real handle for it, and also try my hand at porting which this is the perfect candidate for.

Works for me. How’d you mount the throttle?
You could carve one out of Chestnut ya know ;) :)

Luckily the throttle was intact for the most part. The handle broke off right behind the trigger mechanism. I thought about going the wood route, either locust or oak, but hey I’m a metal worker and have a hard enough time building a square box out of dimensional lumber ;) Ergonomically it doesn’t feel half bad believe it or not. A bit wider than the stock handle, but not unwieldy especially with the soft paracord on there.

It’s now a “tactical” chainsaw. Maybe I’ll mount a picatinny rail on it for a scope, and forward grip just because forward grips are cool ;)

I've come within inches of running over a saw but never actually run one over......yet.

I think it was the 261, i brushed it with the side of the tire backing up as i had taken it off the truck to load wood. Never have fully run one over...yet.

In Connecticut it's not technically an assault saw so long as you don't square file the teeth.
The grip alone is ok so long as it doesn't come with another "feature" as we call it.

I hope some CT guys get a chuckle out of this one.

Only if you dye it black. Otherwise its a regular chainsaw.

I finally got a front blinker unit replaced on the Blazer last year. Went over 25 years using a piece of plastic milk jug and replacing with another piece when it cracked lol. It even passed inspection when we moved here years ago after 200K-300K miles with milk jug blinker lense lol.. Wouldn't have hesitated if needed duct tape, wire or bungies and JB Weld :)

There's a piece of red duct tape holding the rear tail light in place. Which reminds me...i gotta replace it as its peeling off and flapping in the breeze! :emb:

To keep from running over my saws I always but them behind a tree or a stump. That way a lose a whole saw instead of breaking part of it.
