Always did that before I retired. With our rotating days off (10 hour shifts) and PTO I generally took 4 days off to get 11-14 days off. It was the best Christmas vacation each year.

Same here! I had a little over an hour drive one way to work; I relished the fact that I would be home for that time!

Our electricity is back on. So grateful for that. The river is due to crest about now. I am staying put because I don't want to contribute to the traffic snarls from having to be rerouted due to road flooding. (I don't go out much anyway)

Unfortunately I get to use them regularly but I like the idea of the battery lanterns.

The oil goes bad? I bought a liter of oil a couple years ago for "just incase", not a good plan if it goes bad lol. Also I bought a 2 pk of the battery lanterns on your suggestion, we use them all the time, they live on a shelf in our kitchen for easy access.

Its been 11 years since Colorado legalized pot. That didn't take long. :picard:

Michigan legalized it 5 years ago. Guess that gives us 6 more years?

And......just a few months since pot is legal in Minnesota. Today, they announced the state flag is to be changed.

I thought about it earlier today that this is what happens when too many people smoke too much pot.

I think it was 9 years ago, moved in here permanently 10/2013, and legal pot went into effect 2014, the year we sold our home.

We were going to stay in Townsend MA until Tuesday. We left Sunday and still got caught in the leading edge of it. Stopped in Central PA for night then tried to time before the snows hit at home. Snow just started when we got home. Glad we left when we did

There’s one bridge between Topsham and Brunswick shut down because the scroggin is too high. It’s old and is weight restricted to begin with. They have been telling people near the river in auburn to get out. I know one business that flooded but he’s about 2 inches from the July water mark.

Yes it does. I didn't know that either, until my previous house was out of power for several days. And since everyone else was in the same boat, there was no oil to be found within a 30 mile radius. Fortunately we had candles and I used mirrors (and in some places, shiny baking sheets) to magnify the light.
