On the plus side, I am getting better at 16-18" lengths these days. I do let some 22"~ and shorts slide as the stove will handle them.

    Vacation! :rootintootin:
I’m off until January 3rd.Will be taking some downtime, trying to burn up some piles, organizing the garage and barn shops, having one or two cold ones now and then before a nice meal, etc. But, most important of all, hanging out with the family.:)

    Same here
I'm really looking forward to being off for 11 days. I'll be out in the woods with my buddy with the toolcat and his two boys. Man, those kids are growing up fast. Ones a teenager and the other is getting close. I do know those boys are are a ton of help when we're in the woods. I wish I had a trailer that was twice as big to fill up with rounds of wood.

I'll need to sharpen some chains and figure out his to use my Oregon bench grinder my wife got me last year for Christmas.

My son and I took the day off and drove about an hour to have some lunch and see Godzilla-1. It was good. We ate some Chinese Food before and had a little popcorn and soda while watching the movie. I almost got up and left because the commercials were so many and so long, then they were followed by movie trailers. It was suppose to start at 12:10 and it started at 12:31. :zip:

One bad start to this week. High winds(very high) and several inches of rain to an already saturated ground. Most of the states lost power. Some towns are completely isolated due to road closures, downed trees, and washouts.
Very dark inside the house. I fell twice. Once required rescue to get me up. My son got the generator going. We were able to keep the fridge and freezer ok. Ran the pellet stove for heat. Hated sitting in silence and dark for hours on end.
The ocean was very angry. The Kennebec River will crest tomorrow AM. While I am near the river, I am high up a hill. The local grocery store was not so lucky.

savemoney that doesn't sound good. We keep oil lamps for backup light and the ambience is nice. The house is sure quiet when the power is out and the generator is running in the wood shed. Fortunately for us, another generator is used for internet, TV and fridge/freezer. As they are small and easy to pack, we can use them where ever we want electricity.

This is our off-Friday week, so when I clock out tomorrow, that is it for a while. I am taking PTO for all of next week (so I don't lose it), then 1/1/24 is a Holiday.

I keep several battery operated lanterns. I was tired of the oil for lamps going bad after years of non-use. I also have a Ryobi 14v spot light that on it's lowest setting is just right when I aim it at the ceiling of the living room - that battery lasts for a long time that way.

It’s bad out there. You can not drive the road from Stratton to Rangeley, bridge is missing. Bethel got a lot of damage. Fairfield is flooded. All the streams and rivers are full and lots of stuff floating. Rumford/mexico is at record river levels. We finally got power last night around 9 pm.

I feel for all the people who are affected by this last storm. Some say, "At least you don't have to shovel it," but snow is easier to handle that wind and that much water.

I have about 12 of these!!! You can't go wrong and if you have a Harbor Freight close, they sometimes sell these for $3.99. o_O These lights just Rock!!! You will be surprised how much light they put out.

MikeInMa turned me on to these lights! They take 3 D batteries. I have 6 of these and WELL worth it. When we camped out on our property, I kept one on all night outside near the camp site to we could see going to the "Facilities" in the middle of the night.
The batteries lasted 5 straight nights, 8 full hours. Great lights!!!

Hopefully all gets better quick Saves. I know a lot of electric workers went that way before the storm hit. Stay safe our friend.
