My sister and BIL had their furnace go out friday. He came over and grabbed some splits from my one stack for his wood/ coal stove. ( dont know the make) He said the splits he grabbed were really light and he didn't think they'll burn long. I said you grabbed my SS wood of pine and TOH.

So friday night after work I took the quad with the cart and loaded the last of my ash which was boer killed and stacked for 4 years. Primo stuff. Parked it in the garage and he picked it up Saturday while I was at work. He said it burns much better than the first stuff.
He said he plans on burning some of the logs he has stacked next year. :picard: I told him the cherry MAY be ready if he got it processed by mid January but not the rest. He has a big pile of logs waiting. I hope he processes the pile, but I have my doubts. He is a real good guy, but projects take him forever to complete. I'll probably be offered the logs at some point but by then most will be junk, except for the BL.

[QUOTE="Biddleman, Why would he spend all the time & effort doing his own logs when he can come and pick up your dry stuff?

The ash I've worked up for my dad lately is no longer primo. It's all in a certain level of decay so at this point, I believe it will be a long time before we (dad and I) experience what ash can be. Still solid but just no longer in it's prime. Darn bugs...

I can't complain. I got about 2 cords of BL and mulberry logs from him 2 summers ago. I told him that yellow colored wood is $hit.

Sounds alot like some of my in laws. Everyone wants to burn wood but no one wants to process it. The ironic part is I find processing it therapeutic.
