Long story short... about a month ago, my dad found a pile of birch rounds with a free sign 5 minutes from my house. He dropped off a load at my house and went back to get a load for himself. While he was there, a girl came outside and said there was lots more out back and her dad would even help load it. So he called me just as I was getting home. "Bring your truck down here asap." 5 minutes later, I showed up and drove behind the shop where the homeowner and a friend had another pile of rounds. They helped me load the truck, and said they'd be there another hour if I wanted another load. 15 minutes later, I was back with them loading my truck a second time. He even offered to deliver a load in his dump bed the following day, but I'm maxed out on storage space. The guy recently bought the house and was cutting down all the trees near his drain field. These are just the big stacks I ended up with. I also have a few smaller ones here and there between trees out back.
And is Birch a good wood for you? You would normally have coniferous type wood, correct? Sent from my SM-S536DL using Tapatalk
Birch is probably the best hardwood that we have around here in any quantity. Maple and alder are more common.
Some good stuff there. I love surprise scores like that. And i hear ya on storage. Always a challenge here.
