Found this door knocker in the basement cleaning out my great aunts estate. My great grandfather made a bunch of them as gifts in the 50’s it had probly been down there since then. Put a coat of weather sealer on it and put it up. IMG_3422.jpeg Gonna trim up a brisket and get a brine going for corned beef dinner next weekend. Then batten down the hatches they are saying the weather is going to get sporty tomorrow.

Mother in law; headed back to her home this week
    I love my MIL.
My daughter says 6 days ok; 6 weeks too long
    I agree.
This past week I realized I put offer that was accepted on my house; 20 years ago.
House was in foreclosure; worked on it but did not move in until following spring

It wasn't that warm today, the wind sucked, or blew as it was, but it was in the mid 40's.

Got my boat finally into storage. Unloaded from my truck the new to us Weber gas grill and the two full propane tanks and a Mr heater that I'll use for deer hunting. Our elderly friends a couple cities away keep giving me stuff that they don't want/ can't use anymore. I got a nice fwd Toro push mower a few weeks ago from them.

Then I got my boss a gift card for Starbucks from all of us on the team, and we took Hayden and Timber to get pictures with Santa. That worked pretty well actually. Hayden is 3 and still a spaz when it comes to this. He whipped his tail and reorganized the Christmas tree by Santa. Lol

Unfortunately porch pirates are a thing around here too. We're definitely not in the city. While we've not had the problem here, others have in neighborhoods that are not that far away from us.

Don’t you live in a neighborhood; on a cul de sac? acre or 2 lots.. I am sure my neighbors on road might have some experience..
maybe city was wrong word.. maybe neighborhood is better word.

So others understand Horkn visited our house on trip east.. he gets it
Our road is about mile long with maybe 30 houses on it.. I know maybe 8 people on road..

Wanted to get a load of wood today, I got rained out. Where I am cutting I have to cross a creek so that’s a firm no. Sharpened some brush cutter blade and chains instead.

Our home is in a similar situation. Pita being out of town but no city shenannigans either.

I don't live in a city, or near a city but a town of 6k people that has its fair share of drugs and smaller crimes. I've never had an issue with porch pirates or crime, but very aware that that type of thing doesn't just happen in big cities. Several years ago there was a rash of thefts out of vehicles on my street and the surrounding neighborhoods. I never lock my vehicle doors and didn't start to then because there is nothing in there to steal. But people don't think such things can happen in a small town, so leave wallets/purses, computers and even firearms in unlocked vehicles.

If I'd been in my office working, I never would have even noticed or looked (office is in back of house). But I do try to be a good neighbor and with 3 unoccupied houses right next to me that probably have thousands of dollars in tools in them (until a month ago, it was 4 vacant houses next to me - all had been vacant for 4-6 months), I try to pay attention. As of yesterday, it is down to 2 unoccupied houses next to me.

Yes, you are correct. Just 1 acre, but definitely not a city. We're not really country either, but it's right at the edge of country.

Maybe we just don't have that problem because I'm outside with a chainsaw and doing firewood work.

Porch pirates haven't hit in our neighborhood, but it has close enough from what we see on the nextdoor app.

I do think my next door neighbor is asking for a problem leaving his garage door open most of the time, he's got plenty of new/ nearly new power equipment just asking to be stolen.

This morning I decided to stack a little more in the shed before the rain came. I made some coffee and headed out back while everyone was still sleeping. A short while later, little man came walking up in his jammies asking if he could help. He said he heard the tractor running and jumped right out of bed :hair:. It was a good morning.
