    It did actually.

There have been a handful of deliveries of the CT. That's it. They won't be able to make these in any real numbers until 2025.

I'm not impressed by the CT. They killed the 40k 2wd version, made it 60k and not available until at least another year. The dual motor AWD is now 80k, and the trimotor is 100k. The base Ford lightning is AWD and 50k. The CT doesn't have the range specs it advertised, without an extra battery that costs more in the bed. The lightning has the same range and offers a bigger battery than the standard one. The CT bed is already too small and not really usable like a normal truck bed. The interior is ugly and even worse, is really small and cramped inside, especially the rear seats. Then there's the looks of the CT. It's just ugly. They did actually offer two colors, aside from plain stainless. White or black and the cost is like 6k for those colors.

It's a failure. For that kind of money, just get a rivian or the hummer ev or the loaded lightning

I love being able to add 500 miles of range in 10 minutes at the gas station, and most of all the $28,000 price tag.
If anyone can make the same vehicle, same range, same price, I'd buy it. But I can buy an ocean of gasoline for the difference in price between the hybrid maverick and any EV truck, especially when you figure in the cost of electricity when not charging at home.

The Maverick in person looks way bigger than I had expected from the pictures.

Almost identical in size to my base model frontier and to the old explorer sport Trac 20231004_171927.jpg 20231004_171956.jpg 20231004_171915.jpg 20231004_172009.jpg 20231004_172021.jpg the maverick has a 4.5 foot bed, sport Trac has 4 foot
20230822_065844.jpg my old frontier xl and the maverick, the difference with all of them is the maverick is much larger inside because of being unibody

Not to get too tangential- but utility and frugality capture me.
When I was 16 and just started driving, I lusted over a VW Golf. From a practicality stand point it was great. Probably 30+ MPG and the seats could lay flat- haul a bunch of stuff. I thought it was awesome. The transmission was garbage and went out twice. Ultimately a waste of money. Then I got a Toyota Yaris 5 speed hatch, smaller than the VW and got about 40MPG. Built like a roller-skate but I loved it. I thought that was going to be the apex of gas mileage. Then the Prius started doing all its 50-60 mpg stuff and and I thought that was great.
All these smaller trucks, EVs all the hybrid stuff. I think it's neat.
One day, after the kids are out of day care and my wife gets the car she wants- Who knows, maybe someone will make a small enough truck, with enough practicality and an ugliness only I could love that I'd be able to snap one up.
For now, I'll just day dream about all the trucks you guys have and in 10 years get a truck. But for now, I'm stuck paying more for day care than for my mortgage (this is not an exaggeration).

    End of rant.

The 2025 Ramcharger is interesting, plug in hybrid with a battery capable of 125 electric miles, DC fast charge capable, and the gas engine is a generator only.

I follow Edison motors YouTube, they are a start up company in BC, started by a couple of young off road log truck drivers. They have engineered, designed and built a prototype hybrid logging truck based on a 1960s log truck.

I watch those guys also. Makes perfect sense for a heavy truck.

I saw one this week on the freeway near Folsom. It's odd looking. I still can't figure out how to get a half cord of wood in the back?

That's Rich Deboss' Sherman tank / Squarebody truck on the trailer! That gets my vote for Truck of the (dystopian) Future!

There may as well be no bed at all. The folks that’ll be buying these won’t be buying them to use as a truck:rofl:

Good news is you’ll never have to try and figure that out and they won’t ever care to figure it out! Everyone wins!

A coworker has a hybrid maverick. We took it to a supplier visit in far north western Illinois which was pretty close to Iowa. I got to drive it back. So I have a few hours of seat time driving and being a front seat passenger. I was pretty impressed, especially for the money. He had a few options, but nothing crazy, it was MSRP like 26/27 k.

For many it's more than they'll need. Average mpg was nearly 35mpg and that was mostly freeway/ back road 60 mph.

Yes, the ramcharger does sound pretty interesting.

You can't. That's what happens when someone that knows nothing about trucks attempts to make one.

I realize the styling isn’t for everyone. I do appreciate a company that thinks out of the box and builds something like this. It’s cool to see automotive and engineering that’s really out of the box.

The really cool part is that someone making something that doesn't make sense has the potential (often realized too) to uncover "hidden demand" and we see a whole market get reshaped based on folks using a product that never existed before or just didn't fit their intended use. This usually has a domino effect in changing adjacent industries as well (like electrical transmission...) Maybe it's not for you and/or I, but if tens of thousands of others are interested and execute on the idea, as long as it's not artificially/excessively subsidized, then you're watching the natural progression of technology. Don't worry, if the idea is terrible, it'll fizzle out soon enough.

They definitely thought outside of the box. So far outside that it's off target.

I had hopes that them thinking outside the box would actually have it make sense. Then you add in the bloated pricing and it's just laughably bad.

At least to slow moving 45's it is, not the glass though.

Bird poop on it staining it might be an oversight by Tesla though. Maybe that's why they are now offering those 6k paint jobs of white or black?
