Interested to see how well that versa holds up for you. The only issue I’ve ever heard was from someone who bore cut frequently. He blew out the tip fairly quick. I have one on my ported 2150 with .325 but it doesn’t get used a lot. I’m typically in wood large enough for a 60 class saw. Hard to believe someone could beat Stahls prices. I just bought a gallon of Red Armor from that place.
This one's got over 100 tanks on it now.... probably closer to 150.... still works fine, and we're not overly nice to our tools. And, we bore cut most of the trees that we saw down. Imo, they are a very good bang for the buck.
I actually like the speedcut bars as well... even lighter, and less kickback tendencies.... they're great for gobs of small limbs. The versacut takes extra care when bore cutting due to it's lightness and larger diameter nose.
Sawsuppliers.com said they would beat any online price, they were higher originally, sent them a screenshot of Stahl's price. They went under that about a dime, had free shipping and gave me a $5 off coupon on next order.
I have my first speed cut on the XS 241. Haven't got it in wood yet. Its lighter with the 18" speed cut than the 543 with 16" standard Husqvarna bar.
Ok, I've never ran one of these stock as this was blown up when I took possession. Is this an improvement? Same? Worse? You won't hurt ma fellings no matter the answer. That's a 20" .325 full chisel Oregon something. 40" diameter seasoned maple. I'm giving it to my nephew so he has a saw bigger than the echo CS-310 he got from me. https://photos.app.goo.gl/7iJ2tyu2rgyhVQB18
Looks and sounds pretty feisty for a poolan. Has me wondering why Stihl and Husky never tried an LTD label on their saws.
Thanks bud. It feels pretty good for a hack porting it. Its a 335 pro. Mag case, open transfer saw. 54cc.
Thanks for sharing that link I just ordered another Oregon full chisel chain for my 18" bar, and I'll be darned... They even beat Amazon's price.
It looks and sounds good. I've never ran mine against anything but it feels stronger than my Husqvarna 55. My version doesn't have a chain brake.
This one might as well not have one. It's so far away from your hand / wrist and so stiff it seems almost useless. There is no flicking your wrist to set the brake as you move around. You have to take your hand off the handle bar and lock it. I'm going to see if it's adjustable. Ive seen some saws that are. The tension that is. Now I'm moving on to the 42cc Poulan pro 260 with its fancy Durachrome cylinder.
Does the predator have a chrome cylinder? I read they did and the 3300 is aluminum cylinder and chrome piston. My craftsman is supposed to be a 3300 with the predator top end. That's what a couple experts on another forum told me. When I found it I started not to get it because I thought it was just another plastic poulan. Couldn't see it well because it was very nasty, oily and covered in Sawdust. I'm glad I got it now though.
Its chrome bore but a single ring piston vs a double ring piston of a yellow and black poulan pro 335.
I see. I think mine is single best I remember. I didn't pull the cylinder just looked through the exhaust port.
Truth be told, I bought it because it was cheap. I have 3 loops of .325 that I need to use up before converting to 3/8 for good on that saw so I didn’t want a boutique bar. The oiler on it pukes oil too so I should have no issue with longevity.
