Stacked the red oak that I processed the other day. Ended up being 6.5 face cords. Added to the end of my stack. Looking to finish up that double row early next week.
Are you still using that same stacking arrangement? The perpetual stack as i call it? Pretty sweet to do it that way.
Pretty much For some reason pic wouldn’t load earlier so I took another. Two more pallets to go at the south end and 5 more at the north end.
That DOES look pretty sweet If I got monster scores all the time instead of little scrounges, I'd consider stacking like that myself. At least in 3 cord increments (about a season's worth for me)
I am still amazed at first snow almost December.. Usually around Halloween here.. Doesn’t stay.. until Thanksgiving then white til spring
I was looking at that earlier and trying to guesstimate how much you were going for there. I wasn't too far off. That's one beast of a stack!
Finished the pallet row and started another today. Added one more pallet than I originally intended to make it an even 25 face cords. My brother ran the splitter while I stacked and tried to keep the splitter lift full. Was able to split and stack 11 face cord today. Also found this cool knot in a split. Thanks God! Definitely gonna save that one.
Got out behind my mother in laws today to take care of some trees that blew over this summer. Probably 70% beech, 25% cherry, and 5% maple if I had to guess. Beautiful day to be in the woods!
Me too. Down to single digits at least. Mud is the other enemy and so is warm weather. If it's going to be warmer than about 70 ° then I'll buy do firewood work if I don't have to. That's a nice load of rounds and now splits.
The deer come to the noise of a running chainsaw around here. They love the witches hair that grows on the fir trees.
I have been out cutting in the forest and experienced the exact same thing with deer. I give my buddies who hunt a hard time with all their deer urine and camouflage gear. They go out days ahead of time scouting and glassing the hills. I try to tell them wear a red helmet, red chaps and bring a loud chainsaw with you to fire up. The deer will come right to you…But they don’t listen.
Finished stacking everything I split the other day. Ended up being just shy of 9 face cord. Have a bit of a hallway going now. Set up for those sw winds to rip down between them!
Impressive stacks there. Nice job with the aisle in between. When i revamped my main storage a couple years ago i kinda did the same. Easier to rotate my inventory.
