Man, I wish someone would have brought those trees out here to SD. I have planted 3 in my town in good spots that will be taken care of.
I left nothing behind except sawdust, noodles and the rot i chopped out with the hatchet. Oh, and a bazillion ants.
Havent touched this since it came home back in August. Had a couple back to back half cord racks open up so started splitting and stacking yesterday. Some of the bark was coming loose so i used the hydro to remove the rest as i worked. My normal MO with fresh cut green BL is to S/S ASAP to keep the bark tight but this being such big wood i wanted the bark off as it takes up a good percentage of a stack with it on.
Truck in shop so spent more time splitting and stacking yesterday afternoon. Id bet the bark would add at least 25% to the volume. Filled up the first rack and started filling the second. Still some chunks left to process. Generated a full bag of splitter crumbs/shards.
Cash and I would gladly take the big pieces of bark off your hands. Stacks look great as we all expect Brad.
Been there done that with the tailgate. Finally just left it off. Bet the homeowner was pleased to see it go. Did you have far to carry it or able to drive right to it?
Tree was freshly cut at the time (OP from August) I was able to back to the end of the driveway and had to carry chunks a short distance. I couldve backed up to wood, but a good rut/bump at the end of the pavement so i opted not to.
It’s all the roadside scrounges that wore his brakes out. His entire neighborhood is full of little skid marks Whatchyangonna do with all the bark Brad?
