I took a walk after lunch today to see what the crew was up to. They are setting aside the trunks for me. Looks like I will be on the 10+ year plan by the time those guys are done. There is going to be quite a bit of cottonwood along with ash(that I didn't know I had), oak, elm and cherry.

Coal has some in it - although not much, in the volumes that coal used to be burned by individuals and power plantes (before they put in scrubbers), it was released in the air. Dumps used to burn trash too, which included thermometers, thermostats (the old ones used mercury), light bulbs (fluorescent, mercury vapor, neon etc).

But it also gets spewed naturally from volcanoes and some probably gets washed from the ground into the ocean thru hot springs/streams/rivers.

    Hauled soybeans again all week.

    today alone was 4500 bushels.

these are going to the plant to be cleaned for soybean seed.

there’s like 20 trucks hauling into this place at the same pace. We’re doing this until March. Two weeks off for Christmas/ New Years

Had a "brisk" walk this morning. Temp is 5f. Dogs and 99 decided to stay home and wait till later for another walk.....

There were lots of coyote tracks this morning....must have had the whole pack together last night. Usually, it's only one or two sets.

I wonder if it would be worth the extra money for the industrial grade stuff.

Got it unloaded and in the garage to work on. Was going to go to my brother's place, and he was all for that, but there is no reason to get in a hurry and I can get most prep and painting done before mounting. My dad and brother are both in to auto body but I never caught the bug. Going to look great when done.:dex:

Morning coffee at the neighbor, then went to a local gun show to get some .357 magnum and black powder shooting supplies.

Wife and I had dinner at a Mexican restaurant across the county line. In a pretty rural spot, but has plenty of customers whenever we are there. They appreciate being able to travel a short distance to get a good meal.

I went out this afternoon and got a little bit cut up and brought home. I found one nice ash log that I got 7 blocks from along with some of the cottonwood. Only got one small trailer load. Almost didn't get my tractor back into the pole barn because of the snow we had. Driving a garden tractor uphill with a little bit of snow doesn't work well but I got the tractor and trailer into the shed.

Could you put chains on it? Good looking load of wood.

Coyotes were singing last night! Both sides of the driveway.

The lake was "making ice" also and that added to the night sounds.

On my boat trailer, I used just the topcoat like I linked. It's durable, but then again I'm not going hardcore off roading with it. There's rarely anything beyond a little gravel.

Chains will definitely help. Erik B , I use my garden tractor the same way. With only 2wd and turf tires you have serious limitations before you can't get traction. Just wet grass can be a problem with a 4x8 trailer full of wood. A little snow? There's not much chance. A 4wd ATV is much better suited for for this. When there's more snow, that ATV and a jet sled to haul wood will handle pretty much any amount of snow.

Bald faced hornets nest in the paddock fell. It was built far too large for the branch it was a hangin.

The hornets were chewing on my poplar fence boards to make their nest. I was staining them and noticed dozens of them kept landing on the installed boards then chewing on them then leaving. This is the mark they left. As soon as I would stain the boards they would not want them.

I put it in the freezer for now. I’ll dry it out and probably give it to my niece and nephew who are into sciencey stuff. I gave them a snake skin this thanksgiving.
