I’d say one of those top handle Echos that T.Jeff Veal has. Can’t recall the model #. That thing is light as a feather and handles great.

I'm very partial to my Echo 2511P. I do almost all my 6" and smaller cutting with it. Under 6 pounds powwr head weight. Because it's ported it can do larger wood but I chose to spread the love around to other saws.

You can probably get more 'reach' out of a standard style saw also via longer bars.

The 2511P is rear handle. Another nice echo is a cs-362P. Basically a rear handle version of the cs-355T too handle.

I use a Stihl 192T. I have had it for a good number of years and it works well for me.

I have a long handle Stihl 201t. 35cc I like it for lightweight limbing. I wouldn’t mind having the echo 2511 long handle. The top handle feels toy like.

    Echo 310 or 3510.
Both are quite light, have good AV, and low cost.
If you want 40cc, the Echo 4010, or better yet the redmax GZ4350 / husky 543xp are good saws as well, and still pretty light weight.

I don't like top handle saws for limbing, and the cs2511p is about worthless unless it's ported....imo.

It is my opinion that Echo is pretty strong in the smaller CC realm. Seems like they might pay more attention to 40cc and lower saws. Maybe that's just my perception though. Wouldn't be hesitant about one if I needed a smaller saw. Husky homeowner stuff...a little hesitant.

Look at the Echo 361p. It's a rear handle version of the 355 top handle, which I have and it's a very impressive saw. Avoid top handles. They such for ground work and limbing.

Meant to say they suck for ground work and limbing.

The gold standard in this category is the Stihl MS241 but good luck finding one of those these days. :tears:

I also dislike top-handle saws for ground work. Guys like them because you "can" operate them one-handed but I never learned to work downed limbs that way. There are versions of the same saws with a back-handle, their chief disadvantage being that they are assembled like top-handle saws and all of their accessibility/maintenance issues.

I still like the Stihl MS250 as an economical "do-all" small saw. A little bit heavier than a typical 35-40cc machine but it punches above it's weight class for power, is pretty affordable at around $300, and is a highly serviceable (simple!) machine to boot.

    on the 241.
I agree on the ms250 as well, though I now prefer the 543xp/gx4350 over the 250.
Imo the 250 is overweight and slow for a dedicated limbing saw.

    But that's just me...

Open up the muffler, go with the larger chain sprocket, and she'll limb just fine. You're right that the engine is not a 15,000rpm screamer. But if you aren't going to be cutting 12" trunks with it, no need keep it geared down with the default .325" 7t.
