I can't recall the brand of scope rings I purchased but I do recommend buying the wheelers scope mounting kit. Even the best rings can benefit from a little polishing.
Safe enough bet that I can order them before the scope arrives? In all honesty I have no NEED to but......
The Warne part #7213M rings seem impressive. I could never make them for that price. I really like the hex head on a stud vs set screws. Is this the appropriate set for my application?
Yikes, those are spendy! You just need to be sure you are getting the right hight for your scope on your rifle. I like my scopes as low as possible, so that's what I'm looking for in rings.
Any reason other than cost to avoid them? I'm not made of money but as a machinist I'm easily disappointed and sometimes that gnaws away at me making the savings not really psychologically worth it.
The only warne rings I've used are the vertically split type, and they've been great for me....but I ain't no machinist....
I have to ask..... how do they manage the egg slop going everywhere? I picture a pretty ripe fly infested no go zone. Wait, don't tell me that you shoot fly's outa the air!
As long as the seller accepts returns, just in case they don't work for whatever reason. I usually look on eBay before buying stuff in hopes of saving some money.
So as I am waiting for the rings to show up I started looking at scope covers, trying to protect my investment. The flip up caps look nice but also are spendy and seem like they could get caught on stuff. Leupold offers a water resistant neoprene "bag" that goes over the scope. It came with the bikini style covers but I have never been a fan of them. What are you guys using?
I use butlercreek flip ups on most. Buy Scope Covers and More. Shop Today For All of Your Outdoor Needs!
Probably my next scope(s) will be vortex's (vortices?). Their scopes have great low light capabilities, especially for the price, and you can't beat their warranty.
I really like the neoprene covers. They are not handy in a hunting type situation where it may need removed quickly, etc. They do keep dust, moisture and foreign materials off the lenses and also protect from dings during travel and going in and out of a safe. For a bench- target gun I think they are great insurance and easy to use. Sent from my SM-S536DL using Tapatalk
I scored a new vortex 4000 rangefinder off eBay pretty cheap. Seems well made and sure is proving that I suck at judging distance!
