I gotta find a suitable log that has minimal taper. I'll be scouting the woods tomorrow. I plan on recording the cuts so I can try to get times.

The XS241 is now swapped to .325 cutting gear. I'm running this 18" narrow kerf Oregon set-up and a Stihl brand 7 pin rim drive clutch drum. Full chisel Stihl RS Pro narrow kerf .325 will eventually find its way on it.

No. I got tired of them pushing the date out farther and farther so I cancelled it. It was an option they gave me so I took it.

Cut a couple trailer loads of yellow pine today. Ran the redmax for one tank, then switched to the 241...... made me feel like a Stihl guy pretty quick.
So much smoother, and more powah, like trading a Corolla for a Cadillac.
    I still like the redmax, but the 241 eats it's lunch...imo. IMG_20231124_112737.jpg IMG_20231124_113526.jpg

That is 100% how I feel. I like my 543 but stock for stock there is a pretty big difference in performance and comfort. It actually has me considering having the second 241 sausage stuffed instead of 543. Or have them both done. Idk. Lol decisions decisions....

How big is that bar on yours? 18 or 20?

    The 241 wears a 20"
I really dislike anything under 20"..... I do have an 18" on the redmax because it's what I had laying around.

The thing with the 241 is, in smaller wood (especially softwood), it cuts like a 50cc saw. I about never want a 50 unless I'm in hardwood over 14 ish inches.

With the XS badge you will need a 50cc even less. I don't need one at all actually. Lol. I hope they offer the speed cut narrow kerf in a 20" for stihl 3005 bar Mount pattern. All I could find was the 18". They have a K095 in a 20" for Husqvarna.

Ahh. Ok. I may try that myself. What driver link count does that work out to then?

Just the regular 78dl in .325 chain.

Those bars are pretty hard, so it requires a very good drill bit.

Thanks for the information. I have some quality titanium nitride bits and some carbide as well.

I ran the 543 today with that Rotary copperhead chain. Full chisel .325 non safety. I like it so far. These pics were after already having ran 3 tanks in maple. Snagged the shots part way into the fourth tank. Only needed one adjustment in those first 3 tanks and its still sharp enough that I didn't touch it with a file yet. It's noticably faster cutting than the semi chisel X cut I had on it.

I've had good results with the hipa chinese chain, it actually cuts faster than x-cut, and holds an edge really well for a $5 chain.
What does the rotary stuff cost?

My nephew is a dealer so I got the loop for a bit under $12 his cost.
