Started G200 today

Finally I started the G 200 for the heating season is my second season with it so fingers crossed it performs as good as last year.Now to get wife to fill it and should be smooth sailing all winter.I will let you know wood use in spring and btw we just heating 200 floor house & its basement in Ontario Canada

Heatmaster?

 

There was a G200 and G400 Heatmaster...then they changed it to a G4000 in about 2020 or so.
G4000, 7000, and 10,000 now, as you already know.

 

That’s what confused me. I never heard of a
G2000

 

Yes a Heat Master G200 heating a 2000 foot house with basement temp is set for 74 day time 72 at night
I bought the unit spring of 2020 but never built the new house till 2022 and so it sat in my shed till the 2 car attached garage was ready for it now it in the garage working as it should. A by product is my garage stays at 60+ degrees with no extra cost as I leave the back door open

Do you get much smoke in the garage when loading it Rob?

 

None that I can notice as for the most part this thing hardly smokes at all being a down draft and if done 2 times per day mostly just bed of coals if not glowing hot when time to refill.

 

Do you have a nice stash of well seasoned wood for it?

 

Yes I store all my wood in home made crates which are 4'deep 6'long & 5' high approx 110cubic feet I have a mix of slab wood (maple ash) some with maple body wood Poplar body wood and some with 3"x3" hardwood from pallets.
I bring 3 into the second bay of the garage(where my truck parts when not using the Boiler) and put in a mix .I haul those from my Coverall building where the crates are double stacked for 4 plus years.I am burning slab wood cut and stored since 2019 same with my poplar also cut 2019.I at the moment have wood in racks to be burnt in 2026 &2027 all under roof since the day was split

 

Hey I really like those crates! You have got yourself a terrific set up there!Much materials & work in building those crates?

 

I’m thinking about coming up with something similar to avoid handling the wood so much, Thanks.

Yes

I did have to change companies as my old one was not even tho the unit is CSA approved for indoor installation.I even had safety guy here last week checking entire property out and he looked funny at it at first but quickly figured out that is legal and installed as it should be.

 

Mine smokes pretty good when I open up the door. It’s a non air tight building so it’s not that big of a deal. I also installed a fan to suck the smoke out of the top of the building too.

Please don’t take this as being preachy. If that’s attached to you your house I hope you have a carbon monoxide alarm in there and one in your house nearby. My house is all electric and I have one on each floor of the house, just in case.

Also remember that Canada has smarter laws that allow wood burners in garages.
