Your kids are at the golden age and it passes all too fast but you two will always have the memories , so don't let the time for those memories to slip away!

Some pictures don't need to be posted. Only the ones that I take.

I have missed our campfires this summer but it was too dry for our area. We could have used a firepit in the back yard as we hardly got any wind this summer.

Im a little sore this morning... put in a solid 8 hours non stop yesterday. Started stripping the flaky lead paint off the windowsills in the upstais room Im paining. This time I tried the soybean jell stripper and that stuff works amazing, as easy as the chemical ones like citristrip but even safer. They have one made for lead paint with a chemical in it that neutralizes lead... smells funny - I think its sulfur based - but works well.

I'm also painting the floor treads and setup in the garage to start priming the window sash and all the closet and cabinet doors. The sash easel again comes in handy and I made a hanging rack to dry the cabinet doors.

In between I also did a bit of yard work, hauled a load of brush to the dump and hauled back another load of random rounds from the log pile. Its hit and miss with a fair amount of pine and lighter woods but its free. Funny thing is as I'm loading another guy drives up in a subaru to scrounge the log pile and starts looking at this pile of punky chunks somebody left. I said to him "that stuffs rotten,, look over here" as I was loading a couple huge trunk pieces one of which was pine. He says to me "hold on you know that's pine!!!" with the typical reaction like I'm going to set my house on fire.

I just shouted back "it all burns" and rode off ;)

That would have been the perfect time to pass him a FHC business card. Nothing said, just handed him the card. No need to be rude ya know. It's all in what and who you know. :)

Painting never ends here either. It is a ball and chain.

Today is our towns Farm day, we just got home from touring a few of the 20-odd farms in town. The kids got to pet all the animals, watch horse shows, daughter got her first pony ride and they sat on a LOT of antique tractors. The turkey farm had a bluegrass band playing and was giving out fresh press cider, apples from their orchard and corn on the cob, plus we got some tasty turkey salad for lunch.

I took a lot of antique tractor photos, I know you all love tractors so I'll dig them out of the camera tonight. Lots of Deer, IH, Farmall Cubs and one that had to be really early a "McCormick-Deering" (sp?) had what looked like a leather belt PTO on the side. Anyone know that one?

Sounds like a good time for the little ones.

A lot of the old tractors had belt drives. My grandfathers M was the last belt drive he had I believe.

So after farms day I spent some more time painting and started to work on the wood a bit. My little 435 was mad at me for not being used in a loooong time and was a pain to start. Put a new plug in it and finally off she goes. Didn't do much to the main pile yet but cut up a lot of large deadfall from the woods to make a pile for fall firepit fires.

The mrs. made the first stew of the fall for dinner and just as we are sitting down to eat I hear a rumbling... different.... you never heard a rumbling like this on the street....

    .....

The rumbling was 36 cylinders passing right over our heads!!!!

That's the Collings Foundation B-17 that travels the country in the Wings of Freedom tour. Collings is an outfit headquartered 30 min from me, though the Fortress lives at the Confederate Airforce facility down south I believe. Today they were giving rides out of nearby Norwood Airport.

    Tractor pics to come.....

Do you swell up and blister or do the stings turn itchy? My honey got nailed by a yellow jacket about 3 weeks ago and is just now getting beyond it. She had a nasty 3/4" blister on her heal for a couple weeks. Hate hornets/wasps. Hope you find relief.

Hornets are the worst. I had black and blue marks last year from those buggers. The bees are swelling up a little and red. I put Benadryl cream on them and that helps a lot. Has she tried that before? A coworker suggested the Benadryl after last year's incident.

Oh yeah... hit it with Ben immediately, and ice. 48 hours later... all infected and moving up her ankle/leg. Doc visit. Antibiotics. Blister formed. She was pretty miserable for those 2 weeks. Blister has now broken and healing fine. Doc gave her a prescrip for an Epipen cause this is a recurring/ getting worse each time, problem. Got nailed on her knuckle last year. Blistered and turned black moving up her hand. 2 weeks then too. She's not very fond of those little *%&#@* right now... :headbang:

Kind of hard to like this post. Hope the swelling and pain goes down quick. Try baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste on the bites.
