If you’ve been far enough back in this thread, you’ve had to see me post songs from that album. Love it, and my son says it’s one that will forever remind him of me. It got a good amount of play time when he was young.

 

It’s my favorite by Hank III hands-down. There are some great tracks on Straight to Hell, but as a Christian I find many of them kind of hard to enjoy these days. It’s why I still love the Melvins and Mastodon’s “Leviathan”. I can rock out without grieving the Spirit overmuch.

 

III is about as edgy as his grandfather was back in his time.

 

A great collection, if you can find it. We had it at the local library! Ripped it to my iTunes!

 

I believe Tool is coming to Baltimore in April too.

 

I saw III and Assjack in a small club years ago. It was one of the best and funnest shows I ever attended. Crazy too. Almost as crazy as seeing the Misfits.

 

They are probably my second favorite band but their ticket prices are outta my pay scale, unfortunately.

 

Love them but despised Fear Inoculum. “Bored Me to Tears Inoculum”.

 

I can remember the exact moment when I stopped following Tool so closely. Summer 2001, I was building a motor for my Camaro. One particularly hot day, I had just gotten the crankshaft in and was installing the pistons and connecting rods. As I was torqueing the rod bolts, all of a sudden I noticed what was playing on the radio and how the lyrics were synchronized to what I was doing. "I KNOW THE PIECES FIT...I KNOW THE PIECES FIT..." That sonofab___ Maynard was mocking me with his lazy mantra lyrics! It was the defining moment in a long day that forever changed how I felt about Tool

 

Holy smokes. That album is a work of art. I’ve listened it more than any other album since its release. I’m still geeking out.

Ahem - perhaps it’s poor form publicly referencing a separate thread as a bit of an inside joke, but I couldn’t resist.

 

Oh there was some discussion a while back that someone got all semantic about. I probably wouldn’t even be able to find it, as if it matters. But you, The Wood Wolverine, were in the mix. I got a laugh out of it. If I run across it again, I’ll figure out a way to reference it.
