Hello all! Delivery tomorrow afternoon and we are excited. I'll have some questions about chimney and such coming and layout of the ceiling or wall exit. This is our firewood stove in our home (1200 sqft earthbound on 2 sides poured walls). I will attach a photo of where we think we want wall exit. Thanks in advance and neat stuff here!

That’s a lot of stove for 1200 sf of underground home.

Just as with any house, still depends on the insulation level...

Maybe, the temperature outside an underground wall is about 50 with no wind. Much easier to keep warm inside if insulated the same as the same wall exposed to -20 and wind.

Using earth as an insulator, bermed homes can be quite energy efficient.
I hope it's not too much stove, too. Course, bermed on just two sides maybe it will be a perfect fit for the part of town.

Indeed. Looks to be standard framing and insulation below grade, interior room walls also insulated, and the framing and insulation on the poured walls is 2x6. The west wall is 80% glass with floor to ceiling windows (cheap double panes and doors, so quite a bit of heat loss there. 100% electric HVAC here so this will definitely supplement the heat pump in the few weeks of below zero we may see in the region.

We successfully set the paint with the 3 burns per the manual today and yesterday. Fun process. Don't mind the microwave we're in the process of a remodel and flooring and it quit the other day.

Fire is a beautiful thing when under control. We did spike 500ish degrees on the last burn finagling with the air but it settled to 450 for the last 4 hours. Man that paint is thin!

There are many NC30 stove owners here that are quite satisfied, bet you'll be among them.

Welcome to FHC s57nomad ... :handshake: ... Got a NC30 myself... It'll put out some heat if you need or you can just build smaller fires for less and use more shoulder season wood to help... Speaking of that how is your wood supply set up? Heres some reading to help make firewood burning a pleasurable experience... Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage ...

Waiting on the local sawmill to have some rough sawn planks again. Got them last season early about 5000 pounds worth all under 20 percent moisture and just had to cut to length for burning. No storage, but more supply soon.
