Shims seal the oil in? That's odd, very odd...

I don’t think the shims are holding in the oil per-say. There is a seal below it. Maybe it is supporting it more now? If I took a micrometer to the old one it is visibly thinner, worn and compressed. A few thousandths could make or break the seal. I’m going to take it as a win. I thought the whole gear case assembly was so worn it needed replaced which would have cost $1000 big ones.

Yeah, it cost me an afternoon, it would have been as much headache and time to take it to the dealer, who already led me the wrong direction.

Our girls team had a tough game last night. Lost 4-1. But they were told by coaches and parents alike. They had a great season, to make it to the final four in the State. Very proud parents and coaches.

Good to be home. Wood Gun started back up….And away we go! IMG_4822.jpeg

I made the comment in jest. I am now working with some people who were born in the year 2000. When something comes up that occurred in the not so distant past 24 years ago, I make it a point that it was the 1900’s.

Great news, Mannie got my phone screen replaced in nothing flat yesterday. I was so happy I handed him a $50 tip for the great work on getting this fixed. The look on his face was priceless to say the least. Cut a load of hackberry today. Hope to finish the trunk next weekend and start splitting it and a cord of silver maple. Hope it works up to 2-cords total.

It seems that fall is even fading away . So far, I have been able to remain home. We have started our Christmas shopping and hope to have it done soon.

Funny thing this morning. 2 deer laying close to kitchen window. Suddenly here comes a doe with a buck right close to her running. They almost stepped one one doe but she held laying there and acted as though nothing happened.

So it was pretty cold last night, supposedly around 26ºF .
Went and ran some errands and the tire air pressure light was on.
So when I got home I check the tires and they are all 4 down to 25 PSI, so I add 5 pounds to each tire.
Still have a light and went for a short ride as the computer doesn't always update right away.
So I check the sticker on the door for what they are supposed to be = 35 PSI.
So I add 5 more PSI to each tire and go for a short ride again - and the light goes out.
10 PSI from I guess middle of Summer when I checked them last. I don't recall ever seeing that much PSI change from season change before. I guess I've been slacking on the tire checking routine.

I doubt that I can go 3 months without losing at least 5 psi, probably more, especially coming from warm weather into cold

I had to add air to 3 tires last weekend. I tend to let the tpms let me know when to do that even though I know that isn't good to do. They were under by about 8psi. I had actually thought I needed to check the pressure before that as the ride didn't "feel right", but I forgot about it by the time I got home. Also, MPG tends to go down a bit when pressure is lower than it should be. But, in my defense, most of my travel is around town, within 2-3 miles of the house, so my MPG is lower than if I had been doing trips to Concord or Manchester. I would have been on top of it if I wasn't WFH as the MPG would have been very obvious.

My Explorer is 35PSI and so was my last one. I don't know how many times I'd have it in for service (at various places) and the guys would let out air to 32 psi. I'd tell them they are supposed to be 35 - they would argue until I showed them the sticker (and tires I run say max of 40 - so it's not like 35 is overload or close to overload).

And this morning I notice the most used garage door isn't quite closing all the way. Time to tweak the stop close trim pot.
Darn temp changes, more bother than the time changes.

I had a tire on the truck that had begun to lose air. About every week and a half at first, then a few days or so faster. Got fed up and drove it in one day. Wasn't looking forward to a winter of "topping off" the air in the tire.

Turns out an old plug from a couple years ago was leaking ever so slightly.
