So with older cab tractors the roof can blow right off. Apparently the material of the roof becomes brittle over time and breaks where it is held down at the bolts/anchors when going down the road at 70mph.

So the dealer where he picked it up suggested to him to put a strap over the roof so it didn’t blow off. He did that, but way over tightened the strap. I have watched several guys over the years chain and strap tractors down and it seems like the younger ones think they have to tighten down to the point where they can’t tighten it anymore. Unnecessary.

Oh well. Not much I can do now, but hope the USHIP protection pays for the damage. Or the hauler’s insurance. Or both. I really want to get it fixed so it’s right. At the Kubota dealer.

Depending on where you get it, just the roof part could be $2400-$3400. Appears to be two types. One looks discontinued. 2007 model year, hopefully they can get one. P.I.A.

Can't like that. I mean I'm happy you're getting another toy, but I can't like the damage done by others

For that kind of money I'd be real tempted to pocket the cash and bondo that mofo shut. I get wanting to do it right, but it's a tractor. A good auto body man can do it right for a LOT less.

Bored at work, of course waiting to go home. My son starts a new job today. He was working part time at a grocery store, but they don't give anyone full time. Funny that the place he got a job at, I worked for the summer after I graduated. I also worked for the same grocery store, different location when I was in high school. He is in the process of trying to get into the Operating Engineers union, so in the meantime he doesn't really care where he works, as long as it is full time. Besides that, I am looking forward to the highschool football game tonight. Our hometown team, Dallas Mountaineers, the team my son played on for 4 years, are 11-0, and are in the district playoffs.

That’s nothing, just at United ag and turf in Presque Isle Maine Wednesday. 8R-250 tractor brand Spanky new in transit to the dealer from Deere, driver didn’t measure or read the bridge height sign or something. Cab is now at an angle and his so hard both from wheels bent. I can’t imagine how the bridge looks. Deere said pull the VIN tag and grind it out if the frame, it can now never be sold. Those are pretty ,I h built to order and the farmer has been waiting over a year. If you want a deal on a half million dollar tractor they are talking about hauling it to Cobleskill NY.

I wondered if a body shop can fix it right. It looks to be plastic though. So. Would anything hold up over time? When you’re bouncing it around doing all different types of tractor and loader work. I don’t know if bondo or fiberglass would hold over the years.

I'm sure it would last as long as you own the tractor if done by a reputable body shop. It's worth a call anyway.

IMO, the fiberglass repair would work just fine if he went that route.

Hey! :startled:I’m right here ya know! :wacky:I will have this for at least six months. Nice and warm in there, and music playing on the radio. :) I just cleaned up around a burn pile with it. It is a nice tractor. And after renting that mini excavator for a week I got a LOT of hoe work done a little while back. Might just rent one for a day now here and there and just keep this one.:dex:

Yup .... same up here. Real estate too. Despite interest rates sky rocketing, jobs plummeting a lot of people still think they can get mega $$$$ (covid panic) pricing. Love these people running out and buying $100,000 trucks and cars too !!!!!!!!!
