A rare breed

Good thing it’s self identifying because I thought it was just another white oak.

the tree rats have been chewing the edges of the id plate.

Hopefully this is the only chain danger

 

By bark alone there’s no way I’d suspect a hybrid there. The leaves must be interesting.

 

Hmm, just learned that a few weeks ago. Oak is part of the Beech family.

 

I wouldve called it white oak. Looks like the critters like the taste of that sign. You saving that split?

 

Probably save it since I’ve never heard of this tree. I know where another Oak is that I have no idea what species it is. Now I’m wondering if it’s this hybrid.

 

Oaks hybridize pretty commonly Ive learned. Promiscuous things they are

 

Maybe my ex wife was part oak…..

I have a Ky Yellowood in yard. Good to see what it looks like on the inside.

 

Never heard of these until now. Upon doing a google search I think I have a few smaller ones on my property. I was unable to identify them for the longest time.

 

Looks just like ailanthus (tree of heaven)
