took the youth group on a white water paddling trip, only lost a couple boats a kids, so it was a successful trip. Just kidding, my phone took this by itself and I like how it looks like an action shot even though it's just normal canoe paddling. rainbow lake is nearby, and offers some great views of mountains as well as the tunnel between rainbow and kushaqua. The teens did an awesome job of sticking together and everyone had fun, some even went swimming at the island. The last shot is devotional time, doing things the way Jesus did from Peter's boat. I love to get a shot of the boats rafting up as it's a great memory for years afterwards. I also love having built almost half the fleet here. another fun game with candy in the wadded up papers. It's very difficult to get more than a couple in a minute the camp has lousy to no cell service, so I video them and upload later on when I drive into town. Caught this incredible sunrise while uploading. interesting painting in lake placid
Azure mountain hike. It starts out very flat, then turns into a crazy steep climb, but the view is amazing and there's a fire tower for an 360 degree view. getting loaded to go home, the backup camera is great, and I was just able to stretch the tonneau cover over everything. last view of Oregon plains on the way home. cool fishing rod holder spotted on a ford bronco full moon over a late night in Boston my first time using my Paddle board myself, found a new pond to try in toppsfield took my mother to see Halibut point state park, the flowers were incredible. wanted a way to carry more stuff on family trips, bought this inflatable truck topper, it doesn't hurt MPG either because it's so lightweight. It's made like an inflatable SUP
Discovered this doing some back roads exploring My mom climbing the rocks at Halibut point state park in her 70s Family vacation visiting NYC, also our 24th anniversary New Jersey ferry terminal at liberty state park, the way everyone crossed the Hudson until the first tunnel was built Statue of liberty I wasn't sure my daughter could join us until too close to the trip to get her a ticket to go inside the pedestal, but she used her time to do homework while she waited on the island. I got crown tickets for the three youngest, and a pedestal ticket for my wife, since they only allow groups of 4. You have to get crown tickets 6 months ahead usually. The staten island ferry is free, and the best way to take aboat ride on NY harbor for cheap. there's a mall next to the ferry terminal on staten island and you can park in their garage for $15 all day. We walked from the ferry terminal, across the Brooklyn Bridge To the Brooklyn tabernacle for Sunday services.
Was there 10-12 years ago doing election support for an Omaha company. Had a little time to explore. Something to see, but wouldn't want to live there. Thanks as always for the pictures and sharing.
Walking back to the ferry, the Brooklyn Bridge towers over Dumbo. got cut off by a cruise ship on the way back to staten island took the family back to liberty state park to see the harbor and statue at night.. when i brought my so here on new years we couldn't see the city because of fog Monday morning we took the staten island ferry again To visit the one world trade center observation deck 100 plus stories above NYC then we walked through the underground mall that connects every tower in the area, even ate lunch there.. thisbis the only part that extends above ground, a massive atrium called the oculous. Interesting animal statues outside the oculous911 memorial." We found out that we were parants for the first time on 9/11/2001. Here she is so many years later, "because He lives" We walked back to the ferry terminal on the eastern promenade, a nearly continuous walkway/park that follows the Hudson River for miles NY harbor is a busy place, this freight cut us off right before the ferry terminal. Just another day at work. Rowbiking with my mom after work.
Another one of my crazy ideas. When i put new tires on the frontier before giving it to my son, they couldn't get the tire pressure monitors off without them breaking From rust. since thatmade the tire pressure light stay on, i asked for the pressure monitors, then sealed them in a PVC pipe tube with a tire filler stem in it. attached to the vehicle firewall, it keeps the light out A different kind of first day of school picture, my firewood buddy headed off to college in his truck and mom going with him in her truck. new bike for her birthday, riding on the bike lane over the Whittier bridge. Replacing a windshield on a global express I wonder if they search for anyone with this Matching bikes for both of the girls The jet th as t replaced my old aircraft. Ended up working on a jet parked out in front of my old place Sunrise over Logan Airport is often incredible The maverick has this weird space next to the screen, found a printed cubby to fill the space Labor day, the girls loved trying out the Paddleboards and tge rope swing, my wife preferred to read Took my mother paddling on the annisquam river after work. my son didn't care for paddling as much I'm going to get back into it more now that he's away. Gloucester harbor
I work on the pipers and beechcraft aircraft, the beech pilots claim better performance and easier flying, which I always find interesting because the design is heavier. I also find Beverly airport weird because every flight school I dealt with in my career was cessna predominantly, but there are two flight schools and both are 95% pipers. They only keep cessnas for sightseeing flights. I keep recommending that the flight school I do most of my GA work on go back to cessnas, they did buy one recently, but the future will be pipers because piper has a much less expensive new trainer on the market, mostly because the avionics are much less expensive garmin stuff, while the 172 is G1000 only.
Paddling around Gloucester harbor in my 30 pound, 14 foot unsinkable kayak, Did a lot of dory rowing in high school, the kayak is faster The old bottom paint factory, now showing propaganda that appears to need to be revised Ten pound island light I've showed pictures of the boat my friend Dan built before, we were there when he launched it, and have tried to coordinate with him to go sailing. He was in Gloucester for the schooner races, so we we finally able to go sailing with him after work. Those clouds were over the airport as i was leaving work, but we got dinner before driving to Gloucester and the front had blown through. This is his replica of Centennial, the first dory to sail single handed across the Atlantic. He copied her lines off the original in the Peabody Essex museum It's a 20 foot sailboat, but fitting 5 aboard was tight. At first there was no wind so i stood in the main hatch and rowed is out to the main harbor Then the wind came up and we got some sailing in my first mate, probably only her third time sailing local rowing gig out for an evening row. We passed them easily the breeze even picked up a little which got the kids excited captain Dan at the tiller
last paddling trip of the year, from the crescent marina ramp to the rocks village Bridge. Had a perfect tide and perfect weather.
