Pellet heads!! What's up today?

Really good info.

Ive used it a few times for short period but still unsure about usage this year.

If your sure about not using it this winter, do you wrap the outside unit? I did last year to protect it as I knew there would be no usage with the cost of electricity. At least wrapping it kept the heavy pollen out of it this past spring.

 

Kingston is starting to consider possible solar options for the town.

There you go get the story first hand no in between person to muddle up a setup. I have been exchanging emails with someone in the business from Florida.

 

Did some measuring on our entertainment center and the idea of an 85" TV
An 85" with smother the book shelves....
A 75" will be far easier on the checkbook and will fit nicely in the wall mount....
The wall mount in there was designed for the big plasma (WE got it with the TV)
A 75" will be better suited and not be so much overkill...

The Room can handle the 85" but the 75" is way more affordable.....

The 55" is OK....But when you are sitting back on the couch the bigger pic of the 75" will be perfect me thinks.

 

I did not wrap it last winter when I knew I wouldn't use it (BTW, I see I have a typo in that post - I used the minisplit the winter of of 21/22 to jack up my usage for solar usage number - not 22/23). I didn't know that was a thing and I'm so wishy-washy, I never know what my decision to use will be day to day .

I did have someone come out and clean/service the system in the middle of summer. That was the first service since having it installed June of 2021. He didn't say it was horribly dirty though. And in looking at it before the service, I didn't see much grime (which may or may not mean anything). It is on the second windiest side of the house, so nature might have kept it fairly clean.

The town next door (the one I used to live in) had solar installed on their town hall (the voters had to approve of course). My town leases the capped dump for a small solar generation array. I gotta find out what is going on there because there was a short mention of that set up in the select board meeting minutes recently.

And, while looking for that link, I saw something on Revision Energy - they have zero projects in my town (business or homeowner). They were the ones who objected to everything so much I gave up on trying to get them out to my property for a site review and estimate. I had suspected at the time they just didn't want to come to my area (I call it the triangle of doom for a reason - because even larger businesses won't travel 20 miles to do a job here).

 

Not so sure its a thing to wrap the outside unit but I know that dedicated ac units are covered for the winter. Maybe not required but piece of mind type of thing. Also my unit is on the back of the house with potential ice falling from the roof and only about15 feet from the edge of the woods.

Maybe not much protection from either of those but figure its something. Geuss what I really could use is to build a small shelter roof over it. Also this year I may use it from time to time. You dont own wishy washy

My brother does not cover his.

 

I had a new A/C system installed when I was still in NY, and asked the installer about covering /wrapping the outside compressor. He said putting something on the top (piece of plywood, or a dedicated compressor cover is ok, but not advisable to enclose the sides......he said it should have full airflow to keep the unit as dry as possible.

 

Thinking about grabbing a ton of pellets today. If I do get some, it will be the most I've ever paid.

 

btpellet has been solid for our area. You and I are on either side of their service area. They have a box truck with a proper lift on the back with a powered pallet jack. Their delivery fee is based on where you are. That’s worth minimizing moving pellets for me.

 

JT likely wants his pellets hand fed to his furnace so him doesn't need to do'em work.

 

We don't have pellet specific places. I still had 2 tons left from last year. If I can get a discount I'll grab another ton.

 

Using the fuel calculator pellets are still slightly cheaper than my propane lock in price. Plus we prefer the stove over the furnace.

 

I had burned some of those Greenway Oak's.....great pellet, as I remember.

 

There a good pellet. Very close to the same as somersets.

That's what I try to get if possible. Not many choices unless I drive a good distance. IMO, my best choice.
