I wish we were much further off the beaten path. And I wish loke anythingnwe had some snow....although im working outdoors and acccomplishing a lot without it.... No candy here.....no askers.
We just get our friends grandkids. In total maybe 5 kids. 3 definitely because they like me, or their parents do.
Got a heads up call on the way home. 4 trick or treaters incoming. Been I think 27 or 28 years since we had any. Saved up for the good stuff for the kids. Owl
My 12 year old is Walter White from Breaking Bad, and 9 year old is some Jack Skellington looking character, I’m not really sure. Yes that’s John Cena with Mao Zedong hair and googly eyes on my fridge too (he magically materialized there a few months ago all on his own)
We have no neighborhood type house system in our rural township. Our Township association held our trunk or treat, with a chili supper last Sunday for anyone who drives to us. Light on and off rain with a chill in the air. not a huge turnout but it seemed most all who came to let the kids get candy, stayed and socialized in out Lions Club building. Some new to the area, others talking about several generations back, and where their farms were in the area.
Surprisingly low turnout this year. I think we had 8-10 total; mostly younger kids and their parents. Some good costumes though and my wife got a big kick out of the two “princesses” who walked right into our entry way when my wife opened the door.
For Halloween I helped a fried get a deer out of the woods after dark. It was about done snowing then.
NO kids here as were way off the road. Went with younger granddaughter to center of next town where they have a blocked off area for kids. There was hundreds of people there. All types of costumes and decorated houses. I couldnt believe it.
My neighborhood was a circus , hundreds of kids. It has actually gotten out of control , no longer just for kids but more like a national drunk day for the parents. Not to mention the golf carts , trailers full of kids and all the other unregistered motor vehicles.
We must be neighbors..........what's your address Definite uptick in the drinking, every parent had a drink, pulling a wagon with booze, hauling a backpack, and holding a tumbler you know those trendy ones that say "Yeti" on them or what not (Not knocking Yeti, but seems to be the trendy, popular, your not cool around here if you don't have Yeti cooler or tumbler). I am all for a good drink, perhaps if it was the weekend. but I did have to get today at 6AM for work. Couple of my young neighbors all work from home....nice.... Yep we had the golf carts and we had a big tractor pulling a giant trailer with about 15 - 20 people/kids on it, lights, music blaring, booze, etc.... I use to see that here and there but this year it was just about everybody. My end of the street is pretty quiet just a steady stream of cars, you'd think they would drive a little slow on Halloween, nope! The other end a different story. One of the big fancy houses went all out, went on the list of S.Jersey best haunts for 2023, well that spread like wildfire thanks to social media and well yep there went the neighborhood and traffic. Past two weekends the lines hours long down the block, cars everywhere what a nightmare. But to be fair, it was a really nice display and haunted house, kids really enjoyed, and pretty darn scary. Went in with my son, went about 10yds, he said NOPE AM OUT DAD!! Dude left me! And as much of a zoo my neighborhood is/was, I will say so many people go all out for Halloween. I think that's why it's so crazy, so many come from other area's to trick or treat here. I am talking flame throwers, chainsaws, music, smoke, movies playing on big screens, people making haunted houses through there garage into and through there yard, it's pretty impressive. So many adults putting on displays and putting on amazing costume's with theatrics, its impressive! Kids really enjoy it, but let's just say I am happy when Halloween is over and it's only from 4 - 8PM. Not my favorite!! I do it for the little ones, such a short window of their life that goes by so quickly. My daughter is already border line going out at 12yrs old. Yet they will remember these times well into their adult life, gotta take this time to enjoy it with them even if out of my comfort zone.
I’ve been pulling a 20 foot trailer for 10 years now. It has become the highlight of the year for many in our neighborhood. We had a total of about 35 or so with adults at one point.
