There was a huge solar flare with CME earlier this week and there are reports on aurora visible in the continental USA tonight, including PA and NJ. Anyone seeing anything? http://auroraforecast.gi.alaska.edu/
I was able to see some odd colors north of me tonight, not sure if that was it or not. The moon was super bright and there was some clouds but I dunno...
Brian, I don't know about you but I can't ever see anything. I hate to be whiney but this has to be one of the worst years ever. I am hoping this is not the new norm. Wish I could see it.
Dunno, but I think the window has passed. I did definitely see the aurora burealis back in 1991 driving west of Harrisburg PA on PA Route 22. I remember it distinctly. We were driving west and I was seeing a green sheen in the sky. I had no idea what it was at the time and pulled over for a better look. With the car off on a rural stretch of highway, it was a green shimmering sheen from the horizon to the top of the sky, stretching as far as we could see from east to west and slowly moving and changing shape. We sat there looking at it for a very long time. So I do know that given the right weather and solar conditions, the aurora burealis can be seen here in PA.
