562xp is a fantastic saw! I sold my 372xp after running the 562 for a year...

 

Lookee what just popped up near me. But I can't, I just cant...

Purchased a tree company and got all the equipment and saws. I'm a stihl guy so this doesn't fit with our company. It is a husqvarna 562xp. Saw has autotune and a 20" bar. I know, and it sure doesn't look worn out. But I have like 17 saws now.

I got my 576xp from this seller on ebay: pantanopowerequipment They are an official Husqvarna dealer. Free shipping, no tax. I believe I got my saw with a 28 inch bar for 775 using the best offer option. Very happy with the saw so far. Note that there are Autotune versions as well as non-Autotune. Mine is not an Autotune. Not sure if Husky is offering both as a permanent part of the line.

 

Nah, I checked completed listings and did the math. In that condition I think it would only bring $460 or so. After the fees, I'd make about $100, less the gas money to get there, drive time, etc. Not worth it unless I was dying to play with one, which I'm not. Still, it's a great deal for someone who'd want to own it. I think they priced it pretty smartly.

 

$460 for a (what appears to be) good low hour 562xp? - I guess so, after the fees I figured 5-525 BIN.

I meant 460 before fees. It's rougher than the ones selling for $500.

I feel so cold and calculating looking at saws this way.

 

I look at them like that all the time. I know I'm not going to keep most of them over 3-4 months.

when you can buy them everywhere on the net new discounted that's what happens to a brand.
Stihl knows this (very well I suspect)

 

Stihl, protective dealer/marketing practices contribute to the difference. If both were available to the same markets including the internet IMO they would both end up in the same place. HVA is considerably more diversified than Stihl, so they have many more products in many more market sectors than Stihl. So, are less dependent on a single product family to turn a global profit.

If Stihl made an orange & white kitchen range you think your wife would want that in her kitchen or a stainless steel Electrolux?

 

Yeah, it's necessary if you want the hobby to pay for itself, but I don't enjoy looking at it that way. The fun is in the discovery, the contemplation of problems, the discovery, the flash of insight. Reducing them to dollars and cents seems... well, reductive.

It's not necessarily a bad thing for Husqvarna. If they can make more money by being less exclusive, they'll be happy to do that. (I have no idea how the two companies' profitability compares).

 

I don't do it to pay for itself. If it did I wouldn't buy near the ones I do. I buy project saws and try to make a little off them. I seem to break even on most eventually. I look at everything in $$$ except guns and ammo. I know there's no return on ammo after it goes bang.
