Contractor i work for part time had trusses boom craned in place Friday on the addition im helping him with. First for me. I was the lucky guy on the high ladder. No worries it was fun. Couple hours and they were up. The trusses are 30' long and 13' tall. 14' step ladder. Im in the high visiblity yellow shirt btw. Oh and nothing bad happened...other than hitting my "stump" thumb with the hammer near the end of the day.
Nice to have machinery to get the trusses up there and not have to shoulder them in place. It would take a few more people to do that. Nice size addition.
I bet you coulda boomed them up by hand Brad . . . although I get they are unwieldy when climbing a ladder. Looks good. Nice work.
Only other time i worked with trusses was a couple years ago when he built an addition at his house. Same steep pitch but smaller trusses. Him and i hoisted them by hand. Basically we had them upside down inside the addition and turned them right side up into place.
They were delivered the Friday prior and he jokingly said the three of us were going to lift them up into place. Him and I moved a couple into the back yard end of the day that Friday. HEAVY sob's at the end of the week. Of course first thing Monday we moved the rest! Dunno which was worse! The day they were dropped he called for the crane and rain was forecasted for the 13th early last week. We lucked out as it was a nice day other than a slight breeze.
