What do you all use to light your fires? I use the plastic "multi-purpose" lighters but they feel so cheap. I want to use something that is quality and gives more satisfaction when lighting, if you know what I mean.
I use matches. Free at most gas stations. When GF smoked id use her lighter. The cheap wand type lighters seem ideal for such. Ive seen small hand held propane torches used as well.
Primarily I just use the box of stick matches. I do have a couple of the plastic wand lighters with the trigger but those are usually down in the basement with the camping gear. The matches stay up in the liquor cabinet away from the kids.
Box matches. Re-kindle 9/10 times though. I'll use a match when I scoop out, because I let it die down over night.
Bernzomatic. I got so sick of stick lighters crapping out after what seemed like a month or two that I finally just bought a torch specifically for the stove. A tank of map gas if just using it for lighting the stove or other stuff like charcoal, bonfires whatever will last a long time. It ends up being cheaper than stick lighters in the long run.
Me too. I actually own one for each stove and they are very quick and satisfying to use. They also can be very good for preheating the flue if that's needed by shooting torch heat up the stack. I refill the green propane cylinders from the BBQ size tanks that I pay 2.19$ per gallon to fill. So we're talking 10 cents of propane used per year by the torches. The trigger ignition parts have lasted 100% over the many years I've used them, not sure if they ever wear out. Then of course having a finger trigger operated torch is handy for all sorts of things. Have something cold that you need hot, grab the torch. A little creme brulee? Need to melt some wax? Thaw the chicken waterer? A frayed rope?
Unstick the frozen lock on your shed or trailer? Check. I love my Bernzo. It’s what I’ll use once our insert is installed.
Or sometimes free after rebate at Menards...but haven't seen them that cheap since CV19. I generally use the wooden matches, or sometimes a Bernzomatic torch...
