Okay, that's a good figure thank you. So I'm sitting at load 6 I think, so about 3 cords so far. The next 3 to go are 2 red maples, both over 20" dia, and according to my tree ID app a white Walnut/butternut. And they are tall, I'm hoping I can get all 3 hauled home in 5 overfull loads. Then we move on into the woods to were the septic is going. So with that I'm going to have to say closer to 8-9 cords.
Looks like a labor of love. I know I'd love to be out in the woods doing it. Keep postin' pics! Helps those of us that wish we could be in your shoes right now.
The misses has actually been out with me just about every time helping load and move brush, been very nice. I think she called it mental instability though...
I asked mine 3 times to help me move splits yesterday, no dice. BUT, I did come in to a helluva spread for supper, and I'm good w/ that.
You can't go wrong with that! Mine told me flat out when I got the OWB 8 years ago that she was fine with it but she don't do firewood. So it's a nice surprise that she wants to help... I think she mostly thinks I'm going to drop a tree on my head but hey I'll take it
Back at it again today, got off work around 4, headed out there. Dropped one of the bigger trees, forgot to load the isocore back in the truck so had nothing to split it with, but it worked out anyways, ran out of time before I got all the top limbed out.
That is always very nice! Great size rounds too, some size but not so huge you have to halve or quarter.
I love a lack of limbs, dealing with limbs is probably my least favorite part. The stump measured 20", I used to load whole rounds like that all the time, now my back goes out a few times a year so I split everything I can before I load just for a little less back strain.
Yeah, after I sent that I thought... those might be bigger than I was initially thinking... 20" is a big round. I'd feel it the next day.
Got back at it today, the misses and I got 2 loads out today. First one we cut up and loaded one of the pecker poll piles, that was almost 3/4 of a load, topped off with limb wood and a few splits. Got that home and unloaded and headed back. Load number 2 was 90% splits with some limb wood. First couple logs split. Got home in the dark so not a very good loaded photo for load 2, sorry.
Load number 3 for the weekend, 95% splits topped off with the rest of the limb wood. Finished cleaning up the last tree I dropped. If it ain't over loaded it ain't a load...
