New California law goes into effect 1/24. Bans yard equipment and splitters. Chainsaws >45cc exempt.

I might have to get a backpack blower before that happens. Seems way too soon, there just aren't alternatives to a lot of what they are banning.

Good luck to those that decide to live there.

I assume it bans new equipment sales and has nothing to do with using existing equipment a person already owns?

I've already prepped for this so that in the distant future if they try this in my locality I'll be ready. If I can get fuel, I'll be making smoke the rest of my life.

What to keep an eye on is manufacturers. Those pushing other means will make it difficult for manufacturers to continue making hydrocarbon fueled equipment.

Do the people that make these silly rules still fly in private jets?

I seem to be the exception here in that I love the idea of electric equipment AS LONG AS the equipment does what I need it do and does so just as, or more, effectively as it does now. Electric power has the potential to do that.

Equipment design and manufacturing, generally, has improved greatly over the decades. I assume it will continue to do so, albeit with some growing pains, going into the future.

I have no issue with electric anything. My only objection is being coerced to get electric anything by an entity that increasingly oversteps its intended role as a referee in free markets to that of an active player.

I think we are all on the same page...the problem is that electric stuff is not ready for prime time yet...works fine for light duty homeowner stuff, but does not work well for someone that mows yards all day long (for example)

And if people want to use electric stuff great. But don’t ban what’s been working for quite some time.

I say let the market determine a technologies success or failure. Anything politicized just makes me suspicious! I actually just checked that box last week by getting a desalt saw that runs off the 20v stuff I already had. Haven’t had a chance to try it out yet.
