I burn about 5 Rick's., but someone is home all day. Most folks around here just burn for ambeinance instead of heating and saving money. It gets down in the 20s and teens at night but warms up to the 40s and 50s during the day for the most part. Factor in the humidity and when it gets cold it really feels cold. I had a old boss from upstate New York and he said the first year he was here he liked to have froze.

That’s why I sell my wood by the full, tossed in, “truckload” and provide dimensions. That way I don’t have to argue about how many cords the resulting stack is because no two men stack it the same. Also, when I buy logs the logger has no idea how many cords he is selling.

When I say it’s one cord I would get guys whipping out tape measures.

If I advertised a face cord here people would be confused.

Rick, face cord, neither one has a legal definition. In Ohio it has to be (legally) cord(s) or fractions of a cord. A face cord can be different amounts of wood based on split length. 1/3 of a cord means 4' x 8' x 16", a defined quantity.

Firewood can also be sold by weight on a truck/vehicle scale. There are about 4 or 5 places I know that do it this way. Makes sense to save on firewood touch time/labor.

    Rule 901:6-7-03
    (c) Wood advertised, offered for sale, and sold by weight shall be sold in terms of price per ton, the sale based on a net weight determined using an appropriate scale sealed by a weights and measures inspector. In no case shall a scale be used for net loads that weigh less than fifty minimum divisions.

There is the law and then there is where the rubber meets the road. Enforcement of this kind of thing is complaint driven. I wouldn't expect to see a sting on firewood method of sale. But what do I know I'm just some guy on the internet.

Rick and Cord were used around here when the parents heated with wood. Three Ricks is a cord? Something like that. Don't remember.

Fixing to get my old 78 finished. The 351m big block was tired and I swapped in a 300-6. I done a full rebuild on it and added a comp cam spected for low end tourqe, split header, 2 barrel manifold, and true duels. Just putting quite truck mufflers on it. I'm getting a aftermarket electronic ignition for it that is one wire so I can get rid of all the wiring and ignition box. Also need to get a fan and fan hub for it. I turn wrenches for a living so I'm not exited to that at home but I'm ready to get it back on the road. Also got a dana 60 for the rear. Going to box the frame as well. facebook_1670170851511_7005204283179495323(1).jpg
