I posted my first ad of the season last night on Nextdoor and sold 2 loads, so that’s encouraging. I’d sure like to move at least 40 cords out of my yard. I’m going to put up some signs around a few affluent neighborhoods in November. Hopefully the Karen’s won’t pull them up.
oooh, no one likes those lawn signs around here unless put in place by the owner. Even the ones on empty lots disappear right quick. And God forbid someone has a political lawn sign still on their lawn the day after an election. The b!tch!n on Facebook is comical. Surprisingly, even though you're not supposed to, sign stapled to utility poles get left alone.
1st lucky customer gets pure 100% 4yr dried White Oak. They gonna have to get nekked after filling the stove with this wood.
Awesome stuff there. One lucky, and im sure, happy customer. Do you normally pull the oldest inventory for deliveries?
Yes, I’m trying to move out my oldest inventory first. There’s some Red Oak that is 5-6yrs maybe more.
Just scheduled a Thursday delivery. It’s looking like sales will be above last year and it’s still 80. These are all new customers, so once the regs start calling, it’s on. I think it was the week before Thanksgiving last year when things really picked up.
Have been crushing deliveries the last two months. Delivered a cord of hickory to a retired Pharmacist today. He has a huge house up on a hill and an awesome flat space below. He created a 100' diameter gravel area below his house for entertaining the neighbors. A lot of Nashville musicians live on his street and he likes them to gather around his special area to play. And he wants them to take as much as they want for burning at their homes. He shook my hand with a Benjamin and thanked me for the great hickory firewood that will burned in his pit. $870 for the cord and the extra Benjamin on top. CRAZY right? Raised my hickory price to $290 a face cord since it is flying out the door.
My customer today didn’t want me to wheelbarrow or stack the cord into his special ring of gravel. He wanted to do it himself in some special way. So just tossed the cord off my truck and trailer in :30 and headed home. $940 for a four hour door to door.
Oh, bought one, split and stacked one and loaded two for tomorrow after my early morning delivery today.
I have the privilege of picking my own logs to process since I pay more than others and give the main guy a case of his favorite beer every week. So lots of 12+ month old white oak filling my yard. Shooting ducks in a barrel.
Have three to four truck loads of free white oak loads to cut that are too big to run through the processor. More cost effective to not cut the free stuff, but like to run my saws every month.
Also have been getting two truck loads a week of free cut offs from the processor. In the 6-14” range. Sell some of the longer stuff and the shorter stuff goes to my parents for burning.
