Takes me about :50 to unload two face cords into this storage shed. No wheelbarrowing and an easy drive down to Thompson's Station from my house. Always have a little conversation with the owner when I arrive. He says he is killing it, so very happy for him and his employees. Like to think I am a small part of his success.
I am always looking at weather for deliveries. Have large tarps I use to cover my trailer and truck firewood. I probably stress too much about it, but like to deliver seasoned and dry firewood. Since I sell a lot of white oak, moisture isn't really an issue unless the customer is burning the same day of delivery.
Raised my prices and my phone still keeps blowing up. My deliveries for today. Nice castle across the street from my customer. The back retaining wall must be at least 25' high. How many blocks did that take and not to mention the front wall. A gated community. Surprised they let riff raff like me inside the golden gates!
I was a little perplexed after stacking my oak delivery because it seemed too low. Grabbed my measuring tape (always bring my tape and moisture meter for customer assurance) and the rack length was 8'8" long. So that explained it.
Saturday and Sundays are my big delivery days when most people are home. About a third of my deliveries are done when nobody is home. They leave cash, check or send me Venmo. Love deliveries when nobody is home. Customers hovering over me can add another :20 easily which costs me time and money. Sundays when customers are at church are the best.
Can a person really make a living selling firewood? If so, how many face cords would you need to sell @ $280 per? For NY city or LA it might be 300-400. That amount in TN would be pretty sweet.
Welcome MNWood . What kind of equipment are you using and what wood burning unit do you have? Where abouts in MN are you located? We love pics
Coon Rapids MN. I have a Husqvarna 445 and a Travis Industries Flush Wood Plus insert. I am currently the caretaker of Dad's Speedco 34 ton split master which at 82 he says he no longer really wants to use. Over the winter I had 3 tress dropped in my yard and requested "No haul" a month ago I took down 4 trees at my son #2's house to clear the area where a new garage/ gym workout space will be built. So plenty of wood to process. Have been hauling that wood home to split, stack, dry and burn in a few years. I have wood that is dry and ready to burn, wood that is green and wood in between. I have already learned some from lurking here for the last week or so.
I have never posted a video here but from what I have learned, you need to put it on YouTube and post the link.
You can embed it here, or share the link. Embedding is easy- just click on the “film strip” icon while making your post and paste the link that YouTube gives you in the dialogue box that opens.
Was sort of lazy today. Spilt and stacked two and loaded three for tomorrow's deliveries. Haven't had time to post in a few days. Moving firewood like crazy. Cold snap coming at the end of next week. Sure I will be delivering multiple face cords every day this coming week. Wife hates me but seems to like the Benjamins coming in.
