Got a call today from a regular who gets two cords spaced out over the Winter in half cord intervals. His final half cord last year i offered him barkless black locust which he accepted. Well he loved the stuff and wants a half cord again this year. I offered up half cord of mulberry as well which he accepted.

You all should move to the Nashville region. Absolutely crushing it here for $280 a face cord. Delivering 3-4 FCs a day and it is hot here. Nashville people love their firewood, especially white oak.

Pretty sure 7530 firewood hoarders/sellers moving into the area would drive your prices down a bit...

I day dream on my deliveries. Three or four motivated FHCers along with my limited knowledge of the market could own Nashville. Delivered three, bought one, stacked one and loaded two today. Have to load another in the morning. My wife thinks I am crazy in what I do. Hey, people are counting on me.

Was it always this way, or has there been a surge from gentrification these past 3 years?

Definitely gentrification going on big time. Tear downs and big stuff going up in its place. I use google maps and street view before all my deliveries to know what to expect. Can I get my truck and trailer into the driveway? When I arrive, it is a new house that google hasn’t updated.

You're doing what you have to do to capitalize on the opportunity anyway. What else can you do? I have mixed feelings about that kind of situation. Granted Nashville wasn't a small town 3 years ago, but still I feel for the locals living on the outskirts of town that are getting squished by circumstances.

I have lived in HI, all along the West Coast, East Coast and in between. Middle TN is mind blowing wealthy and growing bigger every day. No slow down in the economy here. All the wealthy are relocating here and fires are a big deal. Inside and outside.

Your typical good ole boy firewood dudes who sell garbage wood make it way too easy for me to succeed here. I see all the remnants from what the home owners last purchased. Tn has all the best firewoods, but worst sellers.

    Sounds terrible...not kidding.
IME, at least 99% of the time "the wealthy" means self entitled, and I can't stand that attitude.

My son lives in Atlanta and same thing going on there. The wealthy are paying a lot of taxes to support schools and services that otherwise wouldn’t be paid by existing residents. Detroit is a good example of what happens when the wealthy depart and the population declines in total.

I am just a simple man trying to sell a few sticks of firewood to who ever likes flames.

Oh I get that...just agreeing with feeling bad for the locals getting "squeezed out" of their nice hometown...and that I wouldn't wanna live there.

If there wasn’t a seller there would not be a buyer.

Yep, he would need a dump truck to haul 4 cords, our 7x12 dump trailer will hold 1.3 cord tightly stacked, 1 cord thrown in with sides on

I have had that size trailer delivered a few time
It usually stacks out to 1 and 1/3 cord here.. definitely not 2

    probably loaded with tractor bucket
