None at the time as I was at work. May pick up a couple of gallons, but not sitting too bad right now on bar oil but money is tight.

Does it turn to a nearly unremovable varnish like canola oil does?

No it’s not sticky as it dries like canola. I’ll probably switch from canola to this stuff in all my climbing saws from now on. Fwiw Schaeffer 266 Citrol takes gummy build up right off saws pretty quickly. It’s been very effective vs. pine pitch as well as nasty canola varnish.

I can imagine you'd prefer the safer stuff for your lungs when up in the canopy cutting. Surrounded by a vapor.

Yep and anecdotally this stuff doesn’t seem to vaporize. There is sling off but it comes off in larger clumps/drops. Also water clean up and I don’t have to worry about it staining someone’s driveway/fancy-azz-deck/pavers/house siding etc.

At 35 a gallon you’d better have a good reason to run the stuff. For me that’s a relatively small expense as far as tree work expenses go.

All BS aside Brad, with regular stuff selling for $24 a gallon (Husky and Stihl) that’s not a bad price to be environmentally friendly. ESG is a real thing in todays world and if I could advertise I was better than my competitors by helping save the environment even if you have to pay more as the customer to feel good about it, no doubt I’d be peddling it…

For any of you that live around the Saint Louis Metro area, Mo or Il, Bucheits Farm and Home has Poulan Pro bar and chain oil for $6.99 a gallon.

Full agree Ryan. It doesn’t really matter to me how much more it is. I’ve already sold a job or two and the better for the enviro fact played at least a minor role. The better for me part of it is definitely more important to me though.

I do have and use battery saws. Both pole and top handle. Most of my clients are environmentally conscious so yeah it helps. Not only that they are handy little units.

Makes sense and certainly can't be hurting you with the environmentally friendly crowd.
I have actually considered a small battery saw but haven't crossed that bridge yet.

To me it’s a no brainer to pick up something from whatever cordless power tool platform you already have. In my case that’s makita. It’s very handy to simply push the on button and let it rip.

I have Makita’s little top handle 18volt saw and it’s been used daily in a tree work setting. I also have their couple shaft power head that runs the pole saw, hedge trimmer, and string trimmer. All have stood up to commercial use for the last 3 years. If your a Milwaukee guy their similar offerings are excellent as well. I’ve heard gooder things about dewalt as well.

Ive been using Amsoil semi synthetic bar oil in my precious saws for years now and cheap stuff in the rest. The price of the not oil bar oil is like a lateral move.
