Stayner did his at Kevins. .325 rim. He was doing all kinds of chain swapping / cut times. In a nut shell the new Stihl RS Pro, narrow kerf .325 050 if faster on his ported 241 than 3/8 Picco Super is stock, his fast round filed and square grind. I'm swapping mine to that but already purchased an OEM Stihl spur drive .325 drum.

Another comparison that I'll have follow ups on after this observation...
Stihl has spring anti vibe and its the smoothest saw I've ran. Now, this isn't saying rubber mounted saws are an issue for me. So far none have been. I'll have more insight once running the 543. Rubber can harden or rot, springs can stretch or break. It all comes down to personal preference. The Husqvarna feels more solid because of the rubber.

Plus I found the Red Max version for $349 and free shipping. Well, some enabler showed me the link. I haven't ordered that one.

I picked up a chain tonight. Tractor supply only had the semi chisel X cut so that will get me started the actual cutting. Maybe tomorrow.

I've always had Husqvarna because they came out with the first lightweight saw back in the early 70s; the 280 with a 28 inch bar. The saw lasted 36 years, cut a couple 100 cords and was going strong when I sold it.
Bought the 570 and it lasted only ten years and have since have bought the 390XP, and the 562XP. For these bigger saws, my limbing saw was a Homelite XL1.
Bought the Stihl MSA 170 that was on special for $150. The saw would cut like mad but could be hard to start when hot. The hot starting problem was not the saws fault. Operator error as the on/off switches on the Stihl/Husky are backwards to each other.
Sold the MSA 170 and bought the Husqvarna 439 with a 16 inch bar. The saw was under powered with the 16 inch bar and maybe should of had a 12 or 14 bar. I sold the saw.
Started doing my limbing with a MSA 220 with a 16 inch bar. It was very successful! Woodwidow bought me a MSA 300 with a 20 inch bar for my birthday. For a battery saw, this saw is a real beast. It does all my bucking of logs up to 20 inch diameter.
Both color of saws have their place! The combination of Huskys and Stihl works for me. Likely no MS 500I for me due to the on/off switch being backwards to me.

I think most of the newer stihls have a momentary off pushbutton kill switch...hard to screw that up!

Fuel bulb... pump about 7 times... pull... I pump another 3 or 4 times... then your off to the races... To kill is a big orange button... no switches or nobs... brings back this song to mind... :D

I've watched some of your msa300 videos. Its pretty impressive.

I'm a lover of chainsaws. If I like it, I like it. Brand doesn't enter into it as long as its not a Chinese counterfeit.

In this comparison thread, the Husqvarna has the monetary rocker switch, the stihl has the whatever that is they have / had. You push up to shut it off. All the way down for the starting position. It all a matter in what you get used to. I have so many different saws and brands that I have to adapt to all kinds of things.

Its like the Deere HST pedals vs Kubota. I have both. They are equally easy to operate, just different.

I like his music. I saw him at an outdoor music festival we used to have here before our county ran another event into the ground. It was 11 days of big name talent.
