This is copy/pasted from the forum rules.

I suppose this could be interpreted as if someone was threatened/berated via PM, or was involved in a conversation where someone threatened acts of violence against another individual/organization/whatever they could notify a MOD/ADMIN so the appropriate actions could be taken.

I just came across this and haven't read all of the comments yet but when compared to inflation, that $1749 in 1955 is equivalent to just over $20,000 today. I'd be willing to bet a company could reproduce that similar car today and turn a profit selling it for roughly $20k. Why are you paying so much for a vehicle today? All of the amenities drive up costs significantly. Back in 2016 I was truck shopping. There wasn't a single Ford dealer within a couple hundred miles that had what I was looking for....stripped down - no touch screen radio, ride comfort package, factory running boards, rooftop lights, leather seats, carpeted floor, push button 4wd, and so forth. I ordered a truck from the factory and waited about 6-8 weeks but I saved over $20k on the next cheapest version they sales guy was trying to push on me.

And i thought i was the only person on the planet who wanted a stripped down PU. Does yours have manual windows? Mine is an old fleet vehicle.

I haven't bought a brand new vehicle since 2004, but even back then it was hard to find one with crank windows and manual locks. It seems like at some point the manufacturers assumed everybody wanted all the bells and whistles so they went full steam down that path. Either that or their profit margins were better selling more high end stuff. I'm fine with minimal comforts, especially if it saves 20k off the bottom line. And if I'm ever in my truck and taking an unintentional swan dive into a body of water, I'd REALLY prefer to have manual windows anyway. :picard:

only possibility I can think of is if an inappropriate post removed from the public boards was used in the pm's, and the removal is from this entire site including pm's ?

The creator of the thread might have deleted it? Ask someone if it's still there.

About as stripped as you can get it today. Built for towing and hauling really. Ordered it specifically Because what I wanted wasn’t what was being offered.

base XL with vinyl flooring even. It was still $54k. About $20k more than what it should be imho.

the level of electronics is baffling. Puts itself into park as soon as you open the door. Back up in weeds and it will hammer the brakes on you. The Blind spot system is annoying as hell. Back out of a parking spot and if a car is approaching, it will stop you even if they stop to wait for you. The Bluetooth for the phone has regular fits,

it’s got a 2551 lb payload for me which was the most important part for me. A pickup you can use as a pickup. Not those chincy 1300-1500 lb payload grocery getters.

I'm a GM guy but I still miss my old 1981 Ford F100, 300 inline 6 with a manual 3 speed on the column. :BrianK:

Who can do what, when and where becomes a moot point. Point that I am trying is to warn others is that the private conversations on here may not be as private as one thinks, so use care when posting in private messages or you to might get "flamed" as well. :salute:

Power windows and locks was my only request. I can’t stand having to lean all the way over to roll the passenger window up or down. Haha

If a member attacks another member in a Private conversation, then gets reported. If Reported, That opens the lock on the thread for the Mods or Admin to see. So someone has to report it. Everyone has the report button at the bottom left.
