Pellet heads!! What's up today?

For my situation... I'm thinking propane fall and spring, then pellets for the cold of winter.

The dragon in the basement has to heat the basement before heat rises. In the off seasons it dosen't run much or cycle often. To me this makes it more inefficient for off season. Running for 2 hours to send heat up then shutting off for 2-4 hours and repeating.

 

I had a person send s Gedcom file about FIL across the pond to Norway short answer is yes.

 

There are tons of sites that are the pay a fee, I did that but a years subscription to make up for my stroke addled dominate side issues that source assistant makes up for my fine motor issues

 

Looking at the 10 day forecast for NH looks like great weather ahead. Upper 60's during the days, low 50's at night. After all the rain and humidity last weekend, yesterday was fantastic.

Lori had her follow up endoscopy last Thurs. Some scarring in the esophagus from the bandings, no necrosis or narrowing of it so they're not really sure what's causing her food swallowing problems. Could just be it's slow healing. For now it's take smaller bites.

They have decided that they're going to send her down to Lahey Hospital's liver unit to ( as her doctor put it) "try and fix her liver". Now that Beth Israel/Lahey is partnered with Exeter Health/Core Physicians (our local hospital and doctors), should be faster to get her in to start tests and whatever. We would not be surprised to be told within the next year that she may need a transplant. I would imagine her sons would be good matches.

The Jenkins Liver Transplant Unit at Lahey is where she went in 2018 to finally get her gall bladder issues resolved. Dr Jenkins himself did her procedure though I think he's retired now. But it's still the best place in New England to go.

A great week for things needing fixing around here. First finding water leaking from freezer door on fridge (LG bottom freezer model). Getting ready to start taking it apart Sunday 2 other things happen. Find our handheld steamer is dead, ordered a new one on Amazon came next day. Then printing out some pages from the service manual I downloaded, finding lines on the pages. Need new drums, our brother color laser has 4. Ordered them on Amazon, came yesterday.
Monday evening packed freezer food into coolers, take apart door/drawer, find lots of ice in bottom, also behind panel that is supposed to "just pull off". Had to use steamer on bottom of said panel for a bit as it was frozen so it couldn't pull off. Finally got it off, thawed out under evaporator and got drain melted and clear. Reassembled. 4 hours total. BTW fridge is only 6 years old. Never had an issue with the 15 year old Frigidaire it replaced. Nothing was wrong with it, Lori wanted a bottom freezer model. It got donated to Families In Transition.

Before sliding fridge back, go to vacuum out behind it. Hose on vacuum splits. Duct tape it, back to Amazon to order replacement, came yesterday.

Then Wed on way back from shopping, tire light on dash comes on. Get home, find a nail sticking out just below tread in sidewall on a tire. Sidewall punctures don't usually get repaired so I go get a new tire put on yesterday. Didn't buy tire on Amazon but I probably could of

Hopefully that's it for the breakdowns. I had to replace the self propel unit on our Ego mower last month so I know I can mow today anyway.

That's a lot of stuff to be fixing and I'm sure that Amazon appreciates that streak of bad luck.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I know it frustrates Lori to no end that for the last 7 years it's been one medical thing after another.

Lot line warranty seems to expire around retirement time sam which is the reason I got out early and carry no loans. I am still around but it ain't all that easy at times. speaking of which anyone heard from corncob lately?

 

Pellet choices...Pur heat or MWP at about 270/ton...
Easy Heat at 350/ton

Turned the mini split unit in the living room on to heat for a few hours yesterday morning, and just turned it on this morning. At 67* inside, it's 9* colder than I keep it when the AC is on. I put the heat onto auto at 68*,so basically only heats the LR with occasional gentle puffs of air (instead of having the fan on all the time and forcing some air movement throughout the house). The computer and monitor in my office can heat up the office when in use, and I'm wearing a sweatshirt, so am comfortable enough.

The house eventually did warm up to 70* yesterday afternoon, but was under a lot of cloud cover most of the time, so very little solar heat gain. Hopefully there is more sun today so when I open the curtains and shades it will heat up the house to 74* or so.

 

I like MWP's as a nice middle of the road pellet. It creates more ash than a really good pellet, but I'm fine with the tradeoff in price. But, I don't know anything about those other two.

I have bought brands ( easy blaze i think ) that were great one year and sucked the next. I still buy names I know, but it's a crapshoot. Now I buy by price.
