Yeah, pretty sure that calculator is not even worth the effort/ink that it's typed with.

1749.00 to 20036.88? For a new Chevy? :picard:

Mine was $56,000. :headbang::picard: No, I didn't need a full size bed, RAM 2500. No, I wanted one! And, I paid for it... Considering my first pick up was $250.00 o_O

And my first car was $30.00, No, it was not new... I splurged on my second car with $50.00. I also remember giving Judy $150.00 and told her if she found something good, to buy it. She spent $90.00 and that car lasted us 5 years until I sold it for $30.00.

We paid $55,000 for a beautiful handcrafted, post and beam, vaulted ceiling home on 20 acres in 1989. Interest rates were around 12%. Yearly homestead taxes were under $500 a year. I built a garage (my only major improvement). I was busy working my main job, and sides like snow plowing, teaching piano lessons, and guiding some of the cabin owners I plowed for. My wife was at home raising our three children who were born there.

Compared to nowadays there was really not much to spend money on: no cell phones; no eating out; no cable (or TV for that matter); no internet; and not much of a grocery store budget. We ate out of our gardens and from fishing/hunting. Deer and moose were our red meat, and grouse were our chickens. We did not buy meat once during that entire time. We didn’t want for anything ,and were as happy as we ever have been in our 37 years of marriage.

We sold it and 10 of the acres in 1998 for $90,000. It was just listed and sold for $360,000!

Young families starting out can’t afford the available homes in the area. After the C-lockdown, inner city unrest, artificially low interest rate/burgeoning inflation, and the explosion of remote work, the real estate prices went through the roof in desirable rural areas. I heard places like Jackson Hole are even worse.

I built our current cabin/2nd home on the 10 we kept were we still keep a large garden and get a lot of food from the land. The way things are going it is our safety valve.

My wife always laughs she married a guy that works hard at two jobs and they are among the lowest paying jobs, teaching and farming. No, not on the government teat with our farm. I started teaching in 1986, the last 10 years we haven't gotten a raise, get a one time stipend of $1,000.00. But our insurance out of our pocket eats that up, currently paying $490.00 per paycheck with $3,000.00 per person to pay up front. With COVID we had people clamoring for freezer beef, I am of the opinion it was because of the influx of gov't money. Things have settled back down and only those that know how to budget are buying freezer beef.
There is a substantial difference between a 1960's vehicle and today's vehicle for sure. As I now am near retirement age, I see things differently. My two son in laws and daughters are making extremely good money yet I know it takes that to live in today's world with today's prices.

If that’s not the case they should be designated SMs rather than PMs, for surveilled message. Unless PM is an acronym for personal, not private.

They are! Nobody on this side can touch them or see them. Once posted, there for life unless the person who started the PM did it or asked 2 "Admin" who can delete but cannot see them.
