I wish I had thought to take a picture. This was much the same experience. Looked like I had chaps on over my clogger chainsaw pants. It seems to be a summer time thing with the cottonwood. Almost every one I’ve removed has done it to one extent or another. This one was extreme though. I usually step out of the way, but I was more worried about hitting a very tight lay with the spar and forgot.
After 13 years of doing this, I just last year caught on to the square/rectangle splits thing for cribbing. Not sure what took that long. Your stacks are lookin' good.
A little more bigtooth aspen tonight. The lower section of the trunk was rotted so in the woods it stays. Maybe about 2-3 shoulder season fires worth of wood here.
Perfect tool for this small job. Your old saw has been getting plenty of use lately. I think it and I have come to a mutual understanding. As long as I don't let it idle too long it seems happy and doesn't get crotchety on me.
I do the same with Ms. buZZsaw! When it worked i had no complaints, but that hot day it wouldnt hot start right after Isaias i had enough.
I noticed it runs best in the cold. IIRC I richened it up a bit since getting it from you, which helped a little. It pretty much took the place of my Echo CS-370 in the small saw w/16" bar category.
That day I was running the Poulan w/18" bar my neighbor gave me, mostly because I had a brand new chain on it. I should sell that saw as it has sat ever since. Some homeowner could get more use out of it than I ever will.
