I meant to say “ turned into a 2 day job “ Back in early July a gal got ahold of me and asked if I could/wanted to take down several trees. I told her I was definitely interested. She told me where they were ( I pretty much figured I knew the ones in question ). So my helper/stepson went out to check it out and figure a price. 9 standing dead elm, with perfect access. Bucket truck required to knock off a few larger branches so as to not damage some really nice corral fence, and then free fall the rest. Take them apart and keep the fire wood, clean up and dispose of the brush into a dump pile area about a 1/4 mile away. Gave her a price and she said let’s do it. In the meantime before we could get there she contacted me about another job across the highway at her driveway. Big cottonwood with the top broke off and hung up and a dead cedar. I told her I would do it. This weekend was finally able to get there. Took the bucket truck out to the cottonwood Friday evening, and ran into the customer on the gravel road, stopped to talk a little bit and asked for sure which cedar she wanted gone because there’s 3 dead ones that all could go. “Just go ahead and take all 3” was her reply. It took all day Saturday to do the 3 cedars and the one cottonwood. I think we made 7 trips with a 14ft dump trailer. Didn’t keep any of that wood. Had just enough time Saturday evening to move the equipment about a mile across the highway to the original 9 dead elms job. Sunday was rainy off and on until about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. But we had to suck it up and do it because I was using a borrowed/rented skid steer and dump trailer. 4 loads of brush to a dump pile also about 1/4 mile away and three loads of logs for firewood. One load of logs went to the owner of the skid steer. And I kept the other two. It was plum dark by the time I returned the skid steer and trailer to their respective owners. Got home about 10:00 wet and tired. Didn’t take as many pictures as I wanted to but was kinda busy. I did use the 266 some and took one picture of it with a cedar for buZZsaw BRAD
A lot of work there. I was wondering why you wouldnt keep the cedar or cottonwood, but after seeing pictures of them i dont blame you. Not fun in wet conditions but you got it done. How many cords did you end up with? I always smile when i see pics of the 266.
I probably won’t know how much I ended up with for quite some time. I’ll be surprised if it’s anything over 2 cords. But I really haven’t taken the time to look at the 2 dumped loads that I kept. I’ve got plenty of processing to do
Yes, but sure would rather have used my own. It’s in the shop, and has been for a spell. This job has been on my “to do list” for way too long, so I had to borrow or maybe rent ( not sure how it’s going to be) the neighbor’s
Just goes to show, that it's always something. If not too hot, there is not enough daylight to get the work done. I remember this time...
