When WWIII starts climate change will be the least of our worries.

I find it interesting that there is never any discussion (that I've seen) about calibration variations over the years, accuracy of sample sizes, lack of solar activity measurements in early data, etc.

Here's an interesting tidbit for us firewood guys...the always interesting and excellent burning Persimmon:

"The tree is very common in the South Atlantic and Gulf states, and attains its largest size in the basin of the Mississippi River.[9] Its habitat is southern, at the turn of the 20th century it appeared along the coast from Connecticut to Florida; west of the Alleghenies it is found in southern Ohio and along through southeastern Iowa and southern Missouri; and in Louisiana, eastern Kansas and Oklahoma, where it grew tallest.[8]

Its fossil remains have been found in Miocene rocks of Greenland and Alaska and in Cretaceous formations in Nebraska.[8]"

The Miocene period was approximately 5 million to 25 million years ago. Tell me how humans warmed the planet enough to grow Persimmon in Greenland?

Ok, here's a question for the peanut gallery? IF we are assisting "climate change", (Which in my opinion) everything does, NOT JUST HUMAN activity, then why in the Hell are we here? NASA keeps blasting rockets every FREAKING week into space? Oh, that's not causing anything? Yes, most are solid fuels but still punching holes through our atmosphere. Now, how did the over 9000 satellites get up there? I'll say this again; ICE sheets were in the mid-west of the United States just 10,000 years ago, where in the HELL did they go? My RAM truck didn't melt them. I look at the basic, logic scenario, Long before cars, planes, ships and other HUMAN stuff Alaska was found to have burned for nearly 3 years into Canada 600 years ago. Where did all that Smoke go? Remember mt. St. Helen in Washington? Every minute that was erupting, was equivalent to a BILLION cars idling for a year, and HOW LONG did it erupt? 9 days! I worked with 3 scientists and a NASA space shuttle commander at the US Coast Guard Academy when I was teaching there, One WOULD NOT speak about it in fear! the other 2 would just shrug their shoulders and say eeeeeeeh..... Look at the common sense factor and think outside the box. Volcanoes are erupting daily from Hawaii to Iceland and all over the Pacific rim EVERY DAY and puking toxic fumes much more than anything we are putting out. There are Underwater eruptions going on that we never see, except the US Navy hears them on the bottom from our "Secret sonar" buoys that listen for subs. There is so much more the general public is NOT hearing... I'll leave it there.

climate change is real, the world has been doing it since it's creation. Just another form of control. Goes without saying we should still take care of our home, we only have this one.

I agree with this! I used to be hundreds of miles out to sea and see all kinds of SH!T floating in the ocean. Now, who did that? EVERYBODY, Including the Politicians, (BOTH SIDES) I'll explain. Let's start with NYC, they used to take barges, HUGE barges every day and haul them off shore to the continental shelf and dump thousands of tons of trash. I personally witnessed this, my Father was a Commercial fisherman and he witnessed this through the 40's, 50's, 60's into the 70's.

Cruise ships, Navy ships ALL dump their trash into the oceans for years because they had no where to hold it. (Then) in the late 70's they started to compact it or Incinerate it. THEN the EPA got involved and they had to bring it ashore and it got dumped into a land fill. There are BILLIONS and BILLIONS of tons of trash at the bottom of the ocean alone. They did this in the Great lakes, all the Pacific cities and they still do it in Japan and 95% of Asia. This is just the Oceans which really P!SSES me off. With this said, you are NEVER going to get Countries to care when it comes to economic $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Especially places like China and Russia where they BURN, yes Burn everything. China burns about a million old tires a week for power, maybe more!:faint:

A company took over a thermal plant locally and want to start burning tires and plastic waste to provide steam to downtown youngstown.

yep happening here as well. On the plus side I'm sure it will be cleaner than china or russia.
China is also on average building a coal plant per week or month right now. (can't recall that number)

    scientists usually disagree
    97% sounds horribly contrived.
You really need to see what they were asked, how and when.

Always follow the money to get the correct information. All of the world's problems stem from four things.......... Religion, Politics, Sex and MONEY. Money being the main driver.

No one is saying that the planet doesn’t go through natural cycles of increasing and decreasing temperature. Of course the climate changes on its own.

What they are saying is that recently the planet has been increasing in temperature at a faster rate than can be explained by natural cycles, and that human activity is the cause.

My original point is that I trust NASA’s take on this more than this lightly-vetted list of 1,600 people.

But they tend to agree on the obvious stuff.

NASA (IS) a Government agency! They are TOLD what to say. That is a Fact! I worked with an Astronaut, a 3 time space shuttle Commander that told me directly, and one of the reasons he wasn't made a FULL tenured Professor is because he didn't agree with "certain" people. One of the reasons also for the "speedy" increase of temperatures is also due to a Polar wobble. Ice core samples showed this thousands of years back. Remember this; There are scientists in the Arctic and Antarctic all the time and looking at the Weather history of the Earth. Ice tells us a lot. They even saw the ashes from the Pompeii Volcano and narrowed it down to almost the day it happened. And, if you TRUST Nasa, then why do they keep Blasting holes through the Ozone? I don't trust them ONE DAM BIT!

NASA is so heavily weighted by partisan politics they might not even be able to get to the moon again.

I’m not exactly psyched to defend the government, but I’ve known a few researchers for NOAA and they’ve seemed like intelligent, reasonable people. I know one former NASA person (also an astronaut, works for Boeing now), but she has nothing to do with climate research.

Who do you guys look to for information on this? URLs are helpful.

I think what most of the folks here are implying is that independent credible non-guberment funded sources should be recognized & taken into consideration as well.

If you are, anyone is, buying what the guberment agenda (right/left) is peddling without question & some independent research a person isn’t doing themselves any favors & have big Koolaid stain on one’s face.

The quote “ We are from the guberment & here to help.” immediately comes to mind.
