    I've had noncat stoves run away on me and be bouncing off the 800 line even with a fully closed intake control. Not cool.

    I installed a key damper above my NC30 shop stove and while it's not required to control that stove, I believe the key damper can also be used to improve efficiency.

    Also want to confirm that a sooteater chimney cleaning system goes right past the open key damper no problem.

    I have both a few old wood dragons as well as EPA stoves.
    So, just as I stated earlier. There’s more benefit to installing a key damper than there are benefits of not installing one.

    I’m not sure why people get so hung up on having it and not needing. Obviously, if it is needed…then it’s too late…you need it and don’t have it.

    As you said, “not cool” when it’s needed, especially in a modern EPA stove that are purposefully designed not to be snuffed out 100% like the old pre-EPA wood stoves, of which, most of the good ones were air tight…that is, you could snuff them out…even though they often leaked at doors and around gaskets a tiny bit.
