I'll take a look tomorrow at the leaves, the shape I'll have to look closer as it's close to other trees.
This tree, in the photos, is on the opposite end of our property. The leaves appear to me to be similar. The bark seems different unless it's because the one by the shed is a younger tree.
Shingle oak. You can see the bristled tip indicating red oak family. Overall stature and shape of the crown screams oak too. I've only seen the 2 small ones my coworker has, so I would be stumped at first if I came across it here.
Glad to help out. Be sure to let us know how it goes with those rounds. Inquiring hoarders wanna know.
I will. I think we're supposed to get a cool front come through, so maybe if I'm up to it I'll get some split, good days bad days.
Yes, those rounds look quite a bit like oak, but those leaves would throw me off for sure. White oak is darn heavy and often smells like vanilla.
Gonna have to wait a while to do some splitting. I got a flu shot and a shingles vac last Thursday, Saturday afternoon I notice a 4"x4" red spot on my upper arm, bicep area, where they gave me the shots, it's Cellulitis again. I had it a few years back and spent a week in the hospital hooked up to antibiotic I.V's, plus two surgeries to clean it out of my left chest. It really sucks having three cancers and a compromised immune system going on. I love my splitting time, good thinking happens then. I'll let you know when I'm able to split some of the above rounds.
Thank you Guys, I'm working on doing just that, getting better. Too much wood splitting to do this time of year.
