These joints (Cabelas/BPro) are hazzardous to my bank account. I've been cold turkey for probably 7 years now. lol The Bass Pro of wood is soon to hit next County over from me. Issue is that it only happens once a year for 3 days. A list of those who will be selling their wares. https://www.ohioforest.org/page/PBSExhibitorList
I wish there was something like that closer to me. The Martin boys and I might have to head to Ohio next year for that. Maybe get bbr to sign a saw
We stayed in Vegas a couple years ago and there was a Bass Pro connected to our hotel. By the time we left I could have gotten a job there , I knew where everything was after 3 days of wondering around. The only thing that saved me was no space in suitcase to really bring anything back.
I've been to several Cabela's (best one in Sidney, NE) and a couple Bass (best in Springfield, MO) but no longer shop there. I held a Cabela card for many years but cancelled it.
Funny you say that. I did buy a new wallet at Bass Pro while I was there. Strangely that one was empty too?
We have LL Bean Flagship store about 35 miles from here and Cabelas about 56 miles from here. Both can keep you busy for a long time. LL Bean is more like a village. Lots of scheduled events. It is surrounded by many factory outlets and eateries. Beans is open 24/7 365. Locals often shop at night after the tourists have left.
RCBS Nice that you enjoyed your “window shopping” . We have a Cabelas/Bass Pro about 40 minutes away and used to go often when it first opened but not so much anymore. I just can’t seem to leave without something even if it’s a box or two of rifle cartridges. They used to have a Bargain Cave in the back of the store that could be great for a find at a super low price but I think it’s all done on line now.
We have both here in the metro area. Many moons ago, I would visit the one in Kearney, NE and grab my winter coats from the bargain cave in the spring at a great price. I liked Cabela's until Bass Pro purchased them. Just hate seeing all these company's getting too big for their own britches and see nothing but bad coming from it.
We have one about a hour and a half drive from here. Very over-priced and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
Davey Tree recently bought a well established reputable tree service in my area. The tree company owner provided excellent customer service. I think Davey is basically a franchise. Not sure how they can bid competitively when the salesman gets a percentage of work sold, the franchise owner gets a cut and they have to send Davey a cut. Occasionally I have to sub out work. In order to qualify to bid work, the tree company has to have 2mil liability. In my area there was only 3 companies that carried 2 million liability. If a job is over 10k I am required to get 3 quotes, but now there’s only 2 contractors with 2 million liability. Big fish eats the little fish and competition and pricing suffers.
Yep cabelas sucks since the sold stock and became public owned corporation. Then they sold to bass pro and everything went downhill a little farther. I’m sure duck and Jim are spinning in their graves. Quality of merchandise sucks and the customer service sucks for the most part in the Kearney store. Cabelas used to be a great example of American entrepreneurship and pride. Now…. Not so much.
We were supposed to have a Bass Pro open a new location about 15 miles from the Cabelas a few years ago then when the acquisition of Cabelas by Bass Pro was in process that new location just quietly disappeared from the news. Still don’t know what happened to the land, but likely was sold.
