I certainly would, but never know who my customer is before hand. When I first started selling firewood I had a $50 a rick customer who had five adopted children. When I went to $70 he quit buying from me. I was probably making $7 a hour at that price. Firewood is my total life now. Pay me a living wage or I won't produce it.

A local firewood company in Nashville sells their firewood for $315-360 a rick delivered depending on types. They also charge more after 15 miles and for more than 15 steps from your storage spot. After some research, they are a tree trimming company also. Think they have the good stuff stacked and split off the ground for over 12 months and monitor moisture before delivery. No!! So I have plenty of room to raise my prices. I'll probably sell 160-180 face cords from September thru December and have the inventory to sell a lot more. However, I am limited by my one man show. I always wonder why the firewood business is working so well for me. My conclusion is that no body else is willing to do the long hard days that I do. I am up working out in my home gym at 4:30 every morning before I get started on firewood. A big reason I can produce in my opinion.

You are retired USN correct? You don't need to kill yourself with your pay/retirement I'm assuming. If you were a SWO, that means you retired at least an O5/O6 maybe even an O7 :) That's a FAT retirement.

buZZsaw BRAD why not mark it up and see what you get. You know your market, and what people like. All you need is one high end burner to know and want HL.
Maybe a casual fireplace burner would spend more for a bundle of?

I had it on CL last year but no takers. Im thinking of a little less than what i get for a cord of barkless black locust as its close btu wise and the fact i dried it three years. I may deliver a load to him later today. The area where its stacked has squishy wet ground most of the time and i can only access it when frozen of dry spells. Going to storage later to work on wood and will know then.

I am by any means experience in sales and delivery of cord quantities of anything. That's by choice. I find good success (and money) by selling smaller quantities. I might suggest quarter cords of "premium" wood advertised at a "premium" price. Or break it down even smaller to 1 row across the back of the truck level with the top of the bed. That's a huge seller for me (albeit that's picked up by the customer, not delivered). The hardest part is finding people who will pay for small amounts but they are definitely out there. I have dozens and dozens of them as customers and I live in a fairly rural area.

Yes, I have a big fat retirement income, but I am addicted to hard work and producing firewood. Being flush helps me serve my well off customers with the level of service and quality of firewood they demand. I have from an early age always strived to be the best at what ever I do. I bring a broom and blower with me on every delivery to clean up any debris. Doubt anybody else does this.

I know I am in a crazy good situation with firewood in the Nashville area. There just are not many people that have the physical ability and dedication it seems to take advantage of the opportunity. I absolutely believe I could more than triple my loggers income if I ran his firewood show, but I have no desire to deal with those below or above me at my stage in life. Should get some sleep, have a few deliveries to make in the morning.

I wouldn’t sell my Mercedes firewood at the Kia price either! Like you say, there’s a whole entire market for people who want cheaper firewood. I sell my firewood for more than a lot of the people around me. Their customers don’t wanna buy my firewood and my customers don’t wanna buy their firewood. Everyone’s happy!

You don't even make minimum wage if you chase the BTU/heating crowd. Have been spoiled the past 4-5 weeks with large multi-face cord customers. Makes driving time and fuel expense very low. However, I made a single face cord delivery yesterday that resulted in a nice tip which more than paid for my diesel. Customer wasn't home; therefore, I took my time stacking so I could snap a decent picture. It was a 6' rack which is why there is overflow. I charge the same price now on all my firewood, so a lot of customers ask for various species when ordering.

These are two "cheap" firewood competitors on Nashville CL. Both have been running the same ad for 6-9 months. I see much better looking free firewood listed.

Not sold yet and i didnt commit to a price. Im thinking $400 as what seller dries a specialty wood for three years? I had it listed last year on CL but no takers. I forget the amount but close to 400.

Hang in there with a good price. When the freezing temperatures arrive, your phone won't stop buzzing.

I have my regulars who call when ready. Lost a few last year but think i have filled those voids. Mild Winter last year didnt help.

What percentage of your customers are repeats? I imagine you get a lot of referrals?

Sold 33 face cords last month and only had two new customers. I actually don’t have a problem losing old customers since my first year Nashville customers paid me a lot less than what I am charging now. Always awkward when a customer from 12-24 months ago wants a delivery and my price is $40-60 more. I am only concerned about losing a customer due to firewood dissatisfaction

I lost them due to death, divorce, one moved out of state and another is too old too burn. Yes it is awkward when you tell them the price increase.
