Does anyone have a clear picture of what a worn out chainsaw blade looks like?? How low it too low to be of any use anymore?? Thanks guys..
As long as your drive links aren’t hitting bottom, bar is useable. That would make the chain not ride on the rails.
Well shoot. I took blade as bar. Guess he could be talkin' chain. Hard to tell when that word is used.
I sharpen down to little nubs and use that for cutting a stump, roots etc...a sacrificial chain. Sometimes as the teeth get filed smaller they will break off easier while cutting harder woods. 16" chain with maybe a sharpening or two left. I hand file only.
That’s what I do. Go all the way until you can’t sharpen anymore. Nothing to lose, it’s no less safe near the end. Be sure to check the raker depth too.
Chains have witness marks on the cutters. Generally, if you make it that far down the tooth, it's time for a new one.
